Fujifilm is expanding its instax instant camera lineup with the launch of the instax SQUARE 2, an analogue instant camera designed for square format photography. The camera will be released on 11 November 2026 at a retail price of S$169, offering users new ways to capture and print photos instantly.

The instax SQUARE 2 succeeds the instax SQUARE SQ1, which was launched in 2020. It retains the simple operation of its predecessor, allowing users to turn on the camera by rotating the lens barrel, frame their subject and press the shutter button to take a picture.
Compatible with instax SQUARE film, the camera uses a 1:1 aspect ratio that allows photographers to capture subjects alongside the surrounding scenery and atmosphere. The square format is suitable for a variety of subjects, including portraits, landscapes and everyday moments.
The SQUARE 2 retains two popular features from the SQ1: Automatic Exposure and a Selfie Mirror. Automatic Exposure adjusts the shutter speed and flash output according to the shooting conditions to help achieve appropriate brightness, while the mirror beside the lens allows users to check their composition when taking selfies.
The camera also introduces a new Landscape Mode alongside Standard Mode and Close-up Mode. Designed for distant subjects, Landscape Mode helps users capture clearer images of scenery and group shots. Standard Mode is suited to everyday photography, while Close-up Mode is intended for close-up shots and selfies. Users can switch between the modes by rotating the lens.
Another new feature is the Mood Filter, which allows users to change the tone of their photos using a switch beside the lens. The function places a physical filter in front of the lens, offering two options to suit different scenes and preferences.
The Warm filter produces softer, warmer tones, while the Cool filter creates clearer, crisper colours. Fujifilm said the filters work with the lighting and colours of the scene to create different photographic moods while retaining the distinctive grain and character of analogue photography.
The camera’s design combines a clean, linear body with rounded surfaces. Striped details on the grip and lens add visual character while supporting handling. It will be available in three colours: Slate Blue, Brick Red and Misty White.
Fujifilm is also highlighting its SOFT HAZE instax SQUARE film, which uses a newly developed film emulsion to produce soft lighting effects and warm colour tones. The film is designed for subjects ranging from portraits and skin tones to sunlit interiors and travel landscapes, offering a softer look than conventional instax film.
The launch campaign for the SQUARE 2 adopts the message “follow your mood”, encouraging users to choose how their photos look based on their feelings and the atmosphere of each moment. Fujifilm plans to promote the camera through online channels, social media and retail stores.
The instax instant photography system is available in three film formats: mini, SQUARE and WIDE, with WIDE film measuring twice the size of mini film. With the SQUARE 2, Fujifilm aims to build on the appeal of instant photography by combining straightforward operation with new creative options for printed photographs.
