Stanley Gibbons will bring one of the world’s most significant collections of Malayan revenue stamps to auction in Singapore on 29 October 2026, with The Orchard Road Collection of Malaya Revenues featuring rare stamps, archival material and historical pieces assembled over four decades.

Recognised as the finest collection of Malayan revenue stamps ever assembled, the collection spans the region’s philatelic history, from early Straits Settlements forerunners and pre stamp embossed issues to post independence revenue stamps from Malaysia.
The live auction will take place at 7pm at The Library on Level 11 of Frasers House, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Singapore. Collectors will also be able to participate through online bidding.
Assembled by a single vendor over 40 years, the collection includes rare proofs, essays, colour trials and archival material that have never previously appeared at auction. Many of the items were acquired privately through off market transactions or secured through major auctions dedicated to the subject over the past four decades.
The sale features several notable categories of revenue stamps, including high value issues from independent states, which are widely regarded by collectors as some of the most visually striking revenue stamps produced. It also includes the sought-after Leaping Tiger and Elephant designs, known for their distinctive imagery.
Another highlight is a group of extremely rare local overprints that were printed strictly on demand. Only a handful of surviving examples are known to exist, making them particularly significant for collectors.
The collection also covers the Japanese Occupation period, with rare high value stamps bearing authentic Japanese Occupation chops from every state. These items offer a glimpse into a distinctive period in the region’s postal and fiscal history.
The auction marks a milestone for Stanley Gibbons as the company expands its live auction presence and offerings in Singapore and the wider Asia Pacific market, giving regional collectors greater access to specialised philatelic sales.
Ahead of the auction, a philatelic talk and viewing session will be held on Wednesday, 28 October, at 2.30pm at the auction venue. The session will be presented by Andrew McClellan and recorded for playback at the Stampex stand.
