Professional golfer and Sands Champion Ambassador Lily Muni He met with aspiring golfers and youths in Singapore for a conversation on resilience, self-belief and the importance of forging one’s own path.
Held yesterday at Sands Theatre as part of Marina Bay Sands’ In Conversation With series, the session brought together aspiring golfers from the Singapore Golf Association and LLD Sports, as well as youths from Access Singapore’s network. He, who is in Singapore for race week, shared personal experiences from her journey in professional golf, including the setbacks and challenges she has faced throughout her career.
He spoke about her progression from discovering golf as a child to becoming an LPGA professional, highlighting the importance of perseverance, adaptability and continuous improvement in a results-driven environment.
Her professional career includes her first professional victory at the inaugural Prasco Charity Championship in 2018 and medallist honours at the 2019 LPGA Q-Series. Reflecting on these milestones, He discussed how maintaining perspective and focusing on improvement have helped her manage the pressures that come with competing at the highest level.
The conversation also explored the importance of developing an identity beyond sporting achievements. Known for combining her interests in sport, fashion and creativity, He spoke about her appreciation for vintage fashion and collaborations with lifestyle brands. She encouraged the youths to explore their own interests and avoid feeling restricted by conventional expectations.
He also highlighted how authenticity and self-belief can create opportunities both personally and professionally, while encouraging participants to define success on their own terms rather than solely through measurable results.
He has been a Sands Champion Ambassador since September 2024. Through the programme, she works with Marina Bay Sands’ parent company Las Vegas Sands to champion women’s golf, engage with younger generations and highlight the broader impact athletes can have beyond competition. Sands Champion Ambassadors also support initiatives that create opportunities for young people and strengthen communities across the regions where the company operates.
The session marked the first time youths from Access Singapore’s network participated in an In Conversation With dialogue. The social mobility charity supports youths from disadvantaged backgrounds through mentorship, career exposure and development opportunities, with the aim of broadening their aspirations and access to opportunities.
Launched in 2014, Marina Bay Sands’ In Conversation With series has held close to 50 sessions featuring individuals from sports, entertainment, business and the arts. The platform gives young people an opportunity to engage directly with accomplished personalities and learn about the experiences, decisions and lessons behind their careers.
In Conversation With is part of Sands Cares, Marina Bay Sands’ community engagement programme. The programme also focuses on strengthening community resilience, nurturing future hospitality talent, promoting cultural and natural heritage, and supporting communities during times of crisis.
