Science Centre Singapore is turning up the strange factor this Halloween with robot spiders, creepy science experiments, after-dark entertainment and a glowing lagoon filled with living bioluminescent plankton.

From 27 October to 1 November 2026, Spookology: Glitch in the Web will invite visitors to become Community Science Investigators, or C.S.I., and investigate what happens after a secret experiment goes wrong. Guests will receive a case file and take part in experiments and challenges across four Fear Labs, exploring how movement, touch, sound and illusion can influence what people see, hear and feel.
Those who complete all four Fear Labs can unlock the Secret Lab, where they will face a final three-minute challenge involving a giant spider. Costumes are encouraged, with prizes available for the best dressed.

The Halloween programme continues after dark on 30 and 31 October with Spookology: AFTERDARK. As the lights dim, familiar galleries will take on an eerie atmosphere while resident robots roam the Centre handing out Halloween treats. Visitors can explore attractions including Phobia, Savage Garden, Some Call It Science, and the Mirror and Laser Mazes after hours.
DJs and music will take over multiple zones, while the Fire Tornado and Energy Titans shows will receive special after-dark editions. Visitors can also catch Insanity, a PG13 short horror film produced by Science Centre Singapore at the Omni-Theatre, or head to the Observatory for Halloween stargazing.
The Halloween programme also extends to younger visitors through Spookology Juniors at KidsSTOP, running from 30 October to 1 November. Children can take on gallery missions involving a flying spectre, nocturnal creatures and a wizard’s sensory brew. Those who complete three missions will receive a limited-edition Halloween sticker. A pumpkin hunt and Halloween mass dance will also be part of the programme during the night sessions on 30 and 31 October.
Ahead of the main Halloween programme, Science Café: Face Your Fears on 23 October will explore the science behind fear. The programme includes talks, encounters with the Centre’s resident creepy crawlies, insect protein tasting at The Bug Bar and a preview screening of Insanity at the Omni-Theatre. The event is open to those aged 18 and above.

Following the Halloween festivities, Science Centre Singapore will introduce Glowing Oceans from 3 November. The exhibition is described as Asia’s first full-scale living bioluminescence exhibition, giving visitors the opportunity to interact with living dinoflagellates, single-celled marine plankton that produce blue light in response to movement.
At the centre of the exhibition is the Lagoon, where visitors can step into shallow water while wearing booties provided on site. As they move through the water, the dinoflagellates respond by creating trails of blue light around their feet.
Other experiences include Galaxy Tables, where visitors can create glowing patterns with their fingertips, as well as Touch Tables and Tanks where they can gently move the water and observe the organisms responding. Bubble Pods provide an opportunity to examine the organisms more closely.
The Lab Area and Educational Cove will explore the science behind bioluminescence, including what causes the organisms to glow, what triggers their response and how living bioluminescent cultures are cultivated and cared for. Glowing Oceans is presented in partnership with Popular Biology, Inc. from the United States.

Science Centre Singapore will also mark Quby’s 10th birthday with five limited-edition Science Explorer Buddies plushies, available from 28 October at the Curiosity Shop. The collection includes Whale Quby, Scallop Quby, Manta Ray Quby, Baby Quby and Kueh Tutu Quby, the latter inspired by the traditional Singapore snack.
The plushies build on Quby’s collaboration with Science Centre Singapore, following the character’s introduction as a companion for discovery at SG Science Fest earlier this year and an SCS x Quby WhatsApp sticker pack.
