City Square Mall is inviting shoppers to step into a month-long celebration of Japanese pop culture, festive traditions and wellness with its PlayVerse: Shop, Play & Discover campaign from 4 September to 11 October 2026.

The campaign brings together retail showcases, anime and cosplay experiences, a Mid-Autumn marketplace, community wellness activities and exclusive rewards through the CityNexus app.

One of the highlights is Matsuri Square by Simply Toys, running from 7 to 13 September at the Level 1 Atrium. Inspired by the Japanese word for festival, the showcase will feature exclusive merchandise, limited time special buys and collectibles for pop culture fans.
Visitors can also explore three larger than life photo opportunities inspired by popular anime titles. These include Jujutsu Kaisen, where fans can pose alongside Satoru Gojo, The Apothecary Diaries, featuring Maomao in the inner court, and Dandadan, where Turbo Granny brings a supernatural element to the experience.
The Mid-Autumn Fair will follow from 14 to 27 September at the Level 1 Atrium, offering shoppers a selection of mooncakes and festive treats from hotels and artisanal food and beverage vendors.
Participating hotel brands include The Fullerton Hotel, Orchard Hotel, Sheraton Towers, PARKROYAL COLLECTION, Frasers House and Conrad. Artisanal vendors include Gin Thye, Four Seasons Durian, Eastern Rice Mooncake, JU Signatures and Halal certified Casahana.
The marketplace will feature a mix of traditional baked pastries and contemporary snowskin creations, giving shoppers options for family gatherings, festive celebrations and gifting.

Anime fans can return to City Square Mall for Anime Earth by the Singapore Cosplay Club from 28 September to 4 October at the Level 1 Atrium. The pop culture marketplace will showcase anime merchandise, cosplay culture and creations from emerging artists.
Atrium A will feature festival themed booths throughout the week, with interactive game booths joining the line up from Friday to Sunday. At Atrium B, visual storytelling educator and Takahan Toy Art Museum creator Takahan Tan will present an exhibition from Monday to Thursday before the space becomes a platform for emerging artists from Friday to Sunday.
Visitors can also take part in complimentary drawing workshops on 3 and 4 October, with two sessions each day from 2pm to 3pm and 4pm to 5pm. Registration is free, with participants able to select their preferred date and time when signing up.
The PlayVerse campaign will also include a focus on mental wellness in conjunction with World Mental Health Day on 10 October. Taking place at Level 4 Gastro Square, the initiative is presented in collaboration with CONNECT @ City Square Mall and Temasek Polytechnic.
Visitors can explore “You Matter”, an interactive educational booth by The Salvation Army Youth Development Centre. The initiative aims to encourage awareness of mental well-being and self-care while highlighting the Centre’s youth mental health and development services, which support young people in building resilience and reaching their potential.
Temasek Polytechnic will also present a dedicated wellness exhibition as part of the day’s activities.
Shoppers can also unlock a range of rewards through CityNexus, CDL’s lifestyle app covering shopping, rewards and digital services across its mall portfolio. From 4 September to 11 October, shoppers can earn three times CityNexus Rewards points with a minimum spend of S$20 at participating outlets.
