Disney Unveils Major New Film, TV and Streaming Projects at D23 2026

Disney has unveiled a packed slate of upcoming films, television series, streaming projects and live entertainment productions at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in Anaheim, California, giving fans a look at what is next across Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and more.

Presented by Visa, the event brought thousands of Disney fans together at the Anaheim Convention Center and Honda Center for immersive experiences, exclusive offerings, major announcements and first looks at upcoming productions. Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro opened the evening showcase by highlighting the company’s longstanding relationship with fans across generations and around the world.

The showcase featured announcements across Disney’s entertainment portfolio, including new sequels, live action adaptations and original productions.

For Disney, the upcoming live action sequel Lilo & Stitch 2 is scheduled to begin production in Hawaiʻi later this year. Directed by Chris Sanders, who co-created the original 2002 animated film and voiced Stitch, the sequel is set to open in cinemas on 26 May 2028. The studio also revealed The Bluey Movie, a CG animated feature based on the popular Bluey series, which will arrive in cinemas on 6 August 2027.

Fans were also treated to a look at Ice Age: Boiling Point, which brings back Manny, Sid, Diego, Ellie, Buck and the rest of the herd for a dinosaur and lava filled adventure. The film is scheduled for release on 5 February 2027. A live action adaptation of Tangled is also in production, with Teagan Croft and Milo Manheim playing Rapunzel and Flynn Rider. The film is directed by Michael Gracey and is scheduled to open on 31 March 2028.

Disney also introduced Oswald, an all-new live action animated hybrid series based on Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Created by Jon Favreau, the series follows a middle school boy and his friends as they help Oswald navigate the modern world after Walt Disney’s classic character is released from hiding. Oswald will premiere exclusively on Disney+ on 17 February 2027.

Pixar revealed several major projects, including Incredibles 3, Coco 2, Ghost Market and Gatto. Incredibles 3 will return the fan favourite family of Supers and is scheduled for cinemas on 16 June 2028. Coco 2 will reunite key members of the original creative team and is set to debut in November 2029, while Ghost Market is scheduled for March 2028.

Gatto, directed by Enrico Casarosa and produced by the team behind Luca, follows a black cat named Nero as he navigates the canals and criminal underworld of Venice. The animated film will be released on 5 March 2027.

Marvel Studios also brought several major announcements to the showcase. VisionQuest, a new original Marvel Television series starring Paul Bettany and James Spader, will premiere exclusively on Disney+ on 14 October 2026. The series continues the story that began with WandaVision and Agatha All Along.

Marvel also presented a special look at Avengers: Doomsday, which is scheduled for release on 18 December 2026. Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell appeared on stage during the presentation, alongside Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. The film brings together heroes from three distinct universes as they face a major existential threat.

The studio also confirmed that a new X-Men film is in development, with Sadie Sink set to play Jean Grey. The cast includes Kit Connor as Scott Summers, Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue and Maya Boyd as Storm. The untitled film is scheduled to open in cinemas on 5 May 2028.

For gamers, a new trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine was also unveiled. Developed by Insomniac Games in collaboration with Marvel Games and Sony Interactive Entertainment, the game is coming to PlayStation 5 on 15 September.

Lucasfilm highlighted the second season of Ahsoka, with Rosario Dawson returning in the title role. The new season will premiere on Disney+ on 20 January 2027. Star Wars: Starfighter, a new theatrical adventure directed by Shawn Levy and starring Ryan Gosling, will open in cinemas on 28 May 2027.

Walt Disney Animation Studios confirmed that Zootopia 3 is now in early development, while a new original animated feature currently titled Clay is in production. Clay will star Kieran Culkin as the voice of Flip and is expected to arrive in cinemas in 2028.

Disney also shared a casting update for Disney’s Hexed, an original magical coming of age story scheduled for release on 25 November 2026. Hailee Steinfeld will voice lead character Billie Doe, while Walton Goggins and Jodie Foster have joined the cast.

The showcase concluded with Frozen 3, with Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel and Josh Gad taking part in a musical performance before revealing new animation from the upcoming sequel. Frozen 3 will return Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Olaf for another adventure and is scheduled to open in cinemas on 24 November 2027.

Disney Entertainment Television also announced the third season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, which will premiere on Disney+ on 20 November 2026. A new Kingdom Hearts animated series has also been greenlit for Disney Channel and Disney+, while National Geographic presented LION, a series following a real lion pride and a cub named Kio over four years. LION premieres on National Geographic on 19 August and will stream on Disney+ and Hulu from 20 August.

On the live entertainment front, Disney Theatrical Group announced that its stage adaptation of The Greatest Showman will move to London’s West End in spring 2027 following a sold out run at The Bristol Hippodrome. The production will play at Theatre Royal Drury Lane, continuing Disney Theatrical Group’s relationship with the historic venue.

Beyond the main entertainment showcase, D23 also featured announcements from the Anaheim Convention Center. Disney and Formula 1 announced an extension of their Fuel the Magic collaboration through 2028. The partnership, launched in 2025, combines Disney storytelling with Formula 1 through immersive experiences, content and merchandise.

Mundo Pixar Experience, described as the world’s largest immersive Pixar experience, also announced its first US tour, which will launch in 2027 following international appearances in markets including the UK, Mexico, Brazil, Spain, Belgium, Seoul and Tokyo.

Throughout the event, Disney also highlighted its work with Make-A-Wish through several D23 experiences, including the Disney VoluntEARS Pavilion, Disney Rewind Concert and Disney x Formula 1 Fuel the Magic Booth.

D23 attendees also had access to the largest show floor in the event’s history, featuring immersive activations, interactive experiences and exclusive retail destinations offering limited edition merchandise, collectibles, pins, artwork, apparel and books.

With announcements spanning cinemas, streaming, television, gaming, live entertainment and immersive experiences, D23 2026 offered fans a broad look at Disney’s plans for the coming years while bringing together some of the company’s biggest franchises under one event.
