Singaporeans of all ages came together in the spirit of community, enjoying sport tryouts and fitness workouts at the ActiveSG Celebrates! Sport Carnivals at Hougang Sport Centre.

Organised by Sport Singapore, the annual celebration ran from 25 July to 8 August and concluded with ActiveSG Celebrates! sport carnivals held across five Sport Centres at Bedok, Hougang, Jurong East, Queenstown and Woodlands.

The ActiveSG Celebrates! carnivals brought the National Day festivities closer to communities across Singapore, with close to 15,000 visitors taking part in sport try outs, Active Health fitness challenges, wellness stations and National Day themed activities and crafts. Visitors also enjoyed complimentary all-day access to ActiveSG gyms and swimming pools at the participating locations.

The carnival at ActiveSG Queenstown Sport Centre also marked the official opening of the facility following renovations. The event was attended by Eric Chua, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Law and Ministry of Social and Family Development, and Grassroots Adviser to Queenstown SMC.

The refreshed Queenstown facility has a particular place in Singapore’s sporting history as the country’s first neighbourhood sports complex when it opened in 1970. Following its renovation, the centre now features a new annexe building with an inclusive gym, activity rooms and free to play spaces. It also includes a World Rugby standard rugby field and a new dry dive facility designed for Team Singapore athletes.

Throughout its 11th edition, GetActive! Singapore continued to bring communities together through a broad range of sporting experiences. Competitive sport featured prominently at Pesta Sukan, while Play Inclusive and the Seniors National Games encouraged participation among people of different abilities and age groups.
