Based on Baz Luhrmann’s revolutionary film, Moulin Rouge! The Musical transforms the beloved movie into a theatrical mash-up extravaganza filled with glitz, grandeur, romance, and excess.
The production celebrates the ideals of Truth, Beauty, Freedom, and Love, immersing audiences in a world of spectacle and passion.
Like the film, the stage musical spans more than 160 years of music, blending classics from Offenbach to contemporary pop hits by artists such as Lady Gaga.
The score features over 70 iconic songs, including favourites from the original movie and newer chart-toppers released since the film debuted more than two decades ago.
Set in Paris, 1899, the musical follows Christian, a young American writer who falls deeply in love with Satine, the radiant star of the Moulin Rouge nightclub.
Their romance faces obstacles from club impresario Harold Zidler and the wealthy Duke of Monroth, who believes money can buy anything including Satine’s affection.
With help from his Bohemian friends, including Toulouse-Lautrec and tango master Santiago, Christian attempts to save the Moulin Rouge and win Satine’s heart through an unforgettable theatrical spectacle.
