[Review] Convivio Weekend Brunch at One Ninety Restaurant: A Satisfying Italian Indulgence at Four Seasons Singapore

I recently visited for a weekend brunch with my son, and the experience proved to be a delightful culinary escape. The restaurant strikes a beautiful balance between sophisticated hotel dining and a relaxed family atmosphere, with the chefs popping by tableside to interact with the diners unobtrusively. Service by the wait staff was personable and cheery, further adding warmth to the already comfortable atmosphere.

Right from the start, the brunch feels generous and thoughtful. Arriving with a healthy appetite after a morning run and skipping breakfast, we were immediately taken by the format. The brunch is structured as a hybrid experience a lavish buffet of antipasti, seafood, cheeses, and desserts, complemented by a single, tableside served main course per person.

While many buffets tempt you to fill up on heavy carbs immediately, the smart play here is to pace yourself, because the quality of the starters and the cold stations are remarkably high. We nibbled on some exceptional dark chocolate bread and rosemary grissini with creamy Bordier butter, but we knew we had to save room for the real stars.

Our absolute favourites were the three distinct lasagna dishes on display, featuring salmon, bolognese, and mushroom. The salmon lasagna was, in our opinion, the best of the trio. It was uniquely liquor infused and baked to a remarkably moist and tangy profile that kept us going back for more.

The fresh cheese station was another crowd favourite, showcasing Italian dairy craftsmanship at its finest. We loved the pesto infused burrata and the rich truffle infused ricotta.

To balance the indulgence, we explored the salad section, which features a weekly rotation of composed dishes. On the day we went, the octopus salad with fingerling potatoes and citrus was bright and tender; while the Duy Pu lentil salad, tossed with artichokes and olives in a lemon dressing, was earthy and satisfying. It is rare to see buffet salads treated with this much thoughts and creativity.

For those looking to get the best value for their dollar, the premium seafood station is brimming with fresh cold catches. Piles of plump tiger prawns, mussels, and sweet scallops are displayed on ice, offering a decadent treat for seafood lovers.

While the buffet offers endless exploration, the brunch also includes one main course per person served tableside, along with a serving each of the rich Vellutatadi Zuccae Mandorle, roasted butternut squash with brown butter, sage and toasted amond shavings.

We opted for the Guanciadi Manzo, a braised Wagyu beef cheek accompanied by mushrooms, truffle infused mashed potatoes, and a rich red wine sauce, alongside the Pesce Spada, which is a grilled swordfish served with green asparagus and a balsamic marinated tomato sauce.

Both dishes were beautifully plated and tasted very good, but we honestly found the items off the buffet line just as appealing and comforting.

To end the meal, you absolutely must leave room for the dessert buffet. Chef Valerio believes that food is about the memories you take away from the table, and the sweet finale certainly leaves a lasting impression.

The highlightes for us were the fluffy Tiramisu, the indulgent Bronte Pistachio Tart and the classic Orange and Chocolate Cannoli which provided the perfect sweet crunch to end the meal.

Priced at S$78 per adult and S$39 for children aged 5 to 12, the brunch offers great value for a premium hotel dining experience in Singapore. Adults looking to elevate their afternoon can also add S$55 for a free flow beverage package that includes Prosecco, Aperol Spritz, beer, and wines.

Overall, it was a satisfying Italian indulgence that paired authentic culinary passion with warm hospitality.
