Pangdemonium Unveils Force Majeure, a Contemporary Reimagining of Chekhov’s Three Sisters

Pangdemonium has announced that tickets are now on sale for Force Majeure, a bold contemporary reworking of Anton Chekhov’s classic play Three Sisters. The production marks a world premiere and will run from 6 to 15 March 2026 at Victoria Theatre.

Written by Stephanie Street and directed by Tracie Pang, Force Majeure revisits Chekhov’s enduring themes through a modern lens, offering an emotionally charged portrait of love, loss, longing and the quiet compromises that can fracture families. The production reunites Street and Pang following their acclaimed collaboration on Dragonflies, which was named Production of the Year at the Straits Times Life! Theatre Awards 2018.

A Modern Conversation with a Classic

For Street, Force Majeure serves as a dialogue between a timeless text and the realities of contemporary life, shaped by the private pressures and unspoken tensions people navigate today. Director Tracie Pang describes the return to this creative partnership as an opportunity to take on a larger artistic challenge, while staying true to Pangdemonium’s signature blend of emotional honesty, sharp storytelling and heart.

Rather than simply retelling Three Sisters, the production reframes the narrative to speak directly to modern audiences, exploring how desire, disappointment and resilience coexist when personal worlds begin to unravel.

A Strong Ensemble Cast

Leading the ensemble are Benjamin Kheng, Inch Chua and Ebi Shankara, joined by Selma Alkaff, Rebecca Ashley Dass, Benjamin Chow, Sharda Harrison and Marc Monteiro. Together, the cast brings depth and nuance to characters grappling with vulnerability, fractured relationships and the struggle to keep moving forward in uncertain times.

At its core, Force Majeure invites audiences to look beyond actions and outcomes, and instead connect with the inner lives of its characters, perhaps recognising fragments of their own experiences in people trying to hold themselves together as everything threatens to fall apart.

Ticketing Information

Early bird and public ticket sales for Force Majeure are now open. The production runs from 6 to 15 March 2026 at Victoria Theatre.
