Sketch Up 2026 Brings Art and Community Together in Singapore’s Civic District

Arts House Group (AHG) invites artists, creatives and members of the public to rediscover Singapore’s Civic District through the simple yet powerful act of sketching at Sketch Up 2026. The signature placemaking initiative returns on Saturday, 24 January 2026, from 4pm to 7pm, transforming the National Gallery Singapore and Padang Field into a shared canvas for creativity, connection and community.

Reimagining Public Space Through Sketching

Part of the Civic District’s ongoing placemaking efforts, Sketch Up 2026 aims to enliven the arts and cultural precinct while fostering a sense of belonging among participants. By activating iconic public spaces, the event encourages people of all ages and skill levels to engage with Singapore’s architectural and cultural heritage in an accessible and meaningful way.

Arts House Group first introduced Sketch Up in 2024 as the Civic District’s first outdoor mass sketching event. The inaugural edition drew participants together to capture the architectural beauty of Victoria Theatre and Victoria Concert Hall, setting the foundation for this growing community-led initiative.

A Mass Sketching Session at the Padang

This year, participants will gather at Padang Field for a mass sketching session, with the striking façade of National Gallery Singapore as the focal point. Whether seasoned artists or first-time sketchers, attendees are encouraged to explore the space at their own pace, sketching alongside a vibrant community while deepening their appreciation of the district’s built heritage.

Digital Showcase and Prizes

Sketch Up 2026 extends beyond the physical event with a digital showcase on the Civic District website. Participants are invited to submit their completed sketches for public viewing, where audiences can vote for their favourite artworks.

The artist whose work receives the most votes will win:

  • $100 vouchers from Café Brera and Kopi 1930
  • A Gallery Insider Membership (worth up to $35)
  • A Huion Kamvas 13 Drawing Pad Tablet and Pen Display (worth $239)

In addition, two voters of the winning artwork will each receive $100 vouchers from Café Brera and Kopi 1930, along with a Gallery Insider Membership.

Exclusive Goodie Bags for Early Participants

On event day, exclusive goodie bags featuring limited-edition merchandise will be given to the first 200 registered participants who check in, on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants are required to bring their own sketching materials and tools.
