Etihad Airways has announced the launch of direct flights to Luxembourg, marking a historic milestone as the first airline from the Middle East to serve the country. When services commence on 29 October 2026, Etihad will also become the only airline offering nonstop flights between Luxembourg and Abu Dhabi, establishing a new air bridge between two key European and Middle Eastern hubs.
The new route reflects growing demand from travellers in Luxembourg, the Benelux region, France and Germany for direct access to Abu Dhabi. Operating into Luxembourg Airport (LUX), the service offers passengers seamless connectivity to the UAE’s vibrant capital, a gateway to Arabian culture, world-class hospitality and year-round sunshine.
Flights will operate three times weekly, enhancing convenience for both business and leisure travellers while strengthening economic and cultural ties between the European Union and the United Arab Emirates.
The route will be served by Etihad’s state-of-the-art Airbus A321LR, offering one of the most premium narrowbody travel experiences in the industry. The aircraft features Etihad’s acclaimed three-class cabin configuration, including:
All cabins are equipped with 4K touchscreen entertainment systems, Bluetooth audio pairing, and high-speed Wi-Fi, ensuring comfort, privacy and connectivity throughout the journey.
The new service is strategically timed to cater to both corporate and leisure markets. Business travellers will benefit from efficient schedules connecting Luxembourg’s financial hub with the UAE capital, while leisure travellers can explore Abu Dhabi’s expanding portfolio of attractions.
Highlights include the upcoming Zayed National Museum and Natural History Museum, alongside iconic landmarks such as the Louvre Abu Dhabi and Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. Yas Island’s entertainment offerings, pristine beaches and desert landscapes further add to Abu Dhabi’s appeal for European visitors.
Passengers flying from Luxembourg will gain access to Etihad’s extensive global network via Zayed International Airport (AUH), with onward connections to popular destinations including Thailand, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia and India.
Likewise, travellers from Abu Dhabi and across Etihad’s network can discover the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, known for its fairytale castles, UNESCO World Heritage-listed Old Town, scenic valleys and blend of historic charm with modern European sophistication.
The addition of Luxembourg continues Etihad’s rapid European expansion, further strengthening its footprint across the continent. With Luxembourg also serving as a gateway to neighbouring France, Germany and Belgium, the new route reinforces Etihad’s role as a key connector between Europe and the Middle East.
