Audio-Technica is pushing the boundaries of high-fidelity audio once again with the debut of its new flagship open-back headphones, the ATH-ADX7000. Designed and meticulously crafted in Japan, the ADX7000 showcases more than six decades of transducer expertise, introducing breakthrough technologies that elevate purity, precision, and naturalness in sound.
At the core of the ADX7000 is Audio-Technica’s all-new High-Concentricity X (Transfer) Dynamic Transducer (HXDT) technology. Developed through a precision molding process in Japan, HXDT delivers an exceptionally accurate diaphragm shape and ultra-tight concentric alignment, up to ten times more precise than traditional driver builds. This technological leap results in sharper transient response, cleaner microdetail, and more consistent, centered diaphragm movement.
Thanks to this advanced alignment, the ADX7000 produces sound that is more dynamic, more controlled, and more lifelike, reflecting Audio-Technica’s ongoing pursuit of pure sonic reproduction.
Unlike closed-back or semi-open models, the ATH-ADX7000 embraces Audio-Technica’s True Open-Air Audio philosophy. The open-back architecture allows air to flow freely through the housing, reducing pressure and resonance while relying solely on the diaphragm’s movement to generate sound.
The result? A clear, natural, fatigue-free listening experience, complete with deep bass extension rarely achieved in open-back designs, wide soundstage imaging, and airy, uncolored acoustics that stay authentic over prolonged sessions.
The ADX7000 is engineered for both exceptional sound and exceptional comfort. Weighing just 275 g, it features a honeycomb aluminum housing, paired with a die-cast magnesium frame selected for its strength and vibration-damping properties.
The honeycomb mesh is produced using a unique two-step forming process that maximizes airflow and enhances spatial realism, while magnesium’s structural benefits help preserve sonic purity by minimizing unwanted vibrations.
Listeners can choose between two premium earpad options:
Both options deliver a distinct yet equally premium experience.
With its newly enhanced voice coil, now featuring 490 ohms of impedance without added weight, the ADX7000 achieves faster transients, tighter low-end performance, and an expanded dynamic range.

These are headphones that stay out of the way and let the music speak for itself: transparent, musical, and unmistakably analog in character.
