[Review] Katrina Group’s Daily Chicken Opens 2nd Outlet at Waterway Point

This November, the popular Korean fried chicken brand, Daily Chicken, has arrived in Waterway Point (#01-66). This will be its second outlet in Singapore, following its flagship outlet’s success at Bugis Junction, bringing its delectably crispy fried chicken offerings over to Punggol in the Northeast of Singapore.

Daily Chicken by the Katrina Group is created in partnership with South Korean craft beer brand, Daily Beer. Serving up authentic, family-friendly Korean comfort food, the restaurant offers its signature crispy fried chicken made with fresh, never-frozen meat and ingredients imported directly from Korea, alongside street-food favourites like Chicken Gangjeong, Gimbap, and Tteokbokki.

With its fast-casual dining experience, it has garnered the attention of families, students, and working professionals, evident in the queues at their outlets.

Their menu is, obviously, centered around fried chicken, namely, their Daily Chicken Gamjeong ($18), available in either Black (with crispy soy sauce black gangjeong) or Red (with spicy red gangjeong):

Daily Chicken Gangjeong – Black

It is fried chicken doused in their signature soy-based sauce, along with other sides like pop chicken kimchi dumplings, potato wedges and rice cake. The sauce is laid on thick, so it may feel a bit overwhelming. Lip smacking good, but do make sure to have a drink on hand if the flavour gets too intense. Perfect for sharing.

They also serve up other Korean dishes, such as their own special gimbap filled with, you guessed it, fried chicken:

Chicken Tender Gimbap

The Chicken Tender Gimbap ($15) is quite filling, with the chicken stir-fried vegetable and radish inside adding a crunchy texture. The extra kimchi that comes along is also delightfully crisp and spicy, balancing out with the gimbap.

Other than that, they also serve up ramyeon with, again, fried chicken.

The Hangang Ramyeon with crispy chicken tenders is available in the Hangang Ramyeon and Gimbap set ($32) which we tried. Each set comes with one Chicken Tender Gimbap, one Hangang Ramyeon with crispy chicken tenders, three pieces of cheese balls and a choice of two soft drinks.

Be sure to eat it fast before the chicken gets soggy. But, be warned, the ramyeon is decently spicy with the addition of chili slices.

Aside from their mains, they also present tasty side dishes such as these cheese balls we tried which came with an amazing cheese pull.

Finally, they serve up an array of their own sparkling drinks. we tried one, their Strawberry Sparkle ($4), which you can use to drown out the heat if things get too spicy.

It definitely lived up to its name, being a nice fruity thirst-quencher that helped me get through the spice of the ramyeon and the thick, sweet, sauce of the chicken.

Below is a glimpse of some of their main menu items:

Overall, the food is well priced and delicious while also being able to fill you up. We were there during a Saturday noon and the restaurant wss packed, with a short queue outside. The wait is manageable as the fast-casual concept also means that turnover is fast. If you love Korean fried chicken, this is worth a try as a reasonably priced comfort food option.
