[Review] Forget the Usual Roast: Meatsmith’s Smoked Christmas BBQ Takes Festive Dining Up a Notch

Best known for their American-style BBQ meat, Meatsmith Singapore is turning up the heat this festive season with their festive BBQ offerings, available not just in-restaurant, but also for corporate, parties and event orders.

The foundation of their success lies in their iconic, custom-built Southern Pride Smokers, flown in from the US, which impart an unmistakable, bold, smoky character to everything they serve. They are known for signatures like their 1kg T-bone steaks and ribs, all cooked low and slow, often for up to 14 hours, ensuring maximum flavour and tenderness.

We were invited for a dinner tasting, which gave us a sneak peek into their festive offerings. We got to sample a range of their smoked meats, delectable sides, and surprisingly satisfying desserts.

The Meats: King of the Smoker

Meatsmith’s Smoked Turkey

The festive highlight was the Smoked Turkey, a star from their Thanksgiving and Christmas specials (available for takeaway/self pick-up only).

Cooked low and slow, this whole 5-6kg turkey is juicy and tender, served with classic accompaniments like cornbread stuffing, cranberry, and gravy.

Next up was the Beef Brisket, one of Meatsmith’s most popular items.

Smoked to perfection, the sight of the well-marbled beef with a pink smoke ring hints at a rich, ultimate BBQ experience, presenting a wonderfully tender and moist texture. Love this and it is my must-order item whenever I am at Meatsmith.

We also enjoyed the signature Beef Short Ribs, another house favourite that presents the best of what Meatsmith can offer:

Finally, we savoured the Meatsmith Wagyu Burger, a decadent beast of a burger, packed with double wagyu beef patties, topped with American sliced cheddar cheese, house pickles and house burger sauce, served in a housemade potato bun:

The BBQ meat is always of high quality at Meatsmith and you just cannot go wrong with any of these orders, whether it is for a festive feast or a regular dining.

The Sides: A Necessary Complement

A good BBQ spread is nothing without its sides, and Meatsmith delivers with dishes that stand up to the strong, smoky main courses.

The Cornbread Stuffing, a perfect partner to the turkey, presented something different which was sweet, savoury and comforting, while the Pastrami Brussel Sprouts offered a smoky, savoury kick that elevates the humble vegetable.

We also enjoyed the Beef Fat Potatoes, which provided a satisfying, comforting starchiness, and the signature Cornbread and Smoked Butter which perfectly complements the rich mains with its buttery, sweet kick. Love the latter and highly recommend it.

For a fresh counterpoint to the meat’s richness, the Kale and Feta Salad adds a salty, tangy depth, ensuring a good balance of flavour and texture across the plate.

The Sweet Endings: More Than an Afterthought

While the focus is on the meat, Meatsmith is not neglecting dessert, teaming up with its sister restaurant, Burnt End to offer American classics to conclude the meal with. We started off with the S’mores Tart, a gooey, indulgent treat to usher in the festive cheers.

Next came Meathsmith’s Apple Crumble topped with a scoop of ice cream.

Finally, we enjoyed the Burnt Ends Pecan Pie, a classic Thanksgiving dessert. It is a comforting blend of pecans, eggs, dairy, and molasses, rounding off the meal with a classic, sweet crunch.

Meatsmith Festive Dine-in, Delivery and Catering

Meatsmith offers various ways to enjoy their feast, from the lively dining room (which accommodates up to 70 guests) to corporate festive dining packages for groups of 10 or more, available for both dine-in and convenient delivery from 1 December to 31 January.

For serious meat lovers or those planning a large event, the industrial-casual smokehouse is a must-visit for a gutsy, memorable BBQ experience.
