Cathay Pacific is set to strengthen its presence in the Chinese Mainland with the launch of its new non-stop passenger service between Hong Kong and Urumqi. The airline marked the milestone with an elegant cocktail reception at Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong on 25 April 2025. Hosted by Cathay Group Chief Executive Officer Ronald Lam, the celebration welcomed esteemed guests, including Mable Chan, Secretary for Transport and Logistics of the Hong Kong SAR Government, along with key industry partners.

Taking off on Monday, 28 April 2025, the Hong Kong-Urumqi route will operate four times a week, connecting travelers to a major Belt and Road hub in Northwestern China. This addition brings Cathay Group’s network in the Chinese Mainland to 20 destinations, reinforcing Hong Kong’s pivotal role as an international aviation gateway.




The flights will be operated by Cathay Pacific’s Airbus A330-300 aircraft, offering travelers a comfortable experience across Business and Economy cabins.
