Tampines residents can look forward to a more vibrant community experience as upgraded facilities and fresh initiatives roll out across the town. On Sunday, 23 February 2025, the Tampines GRC Grassroots Organisations (GROs) will host a series of community events, culminating in the grand reopening of the revamped Tampines Changkat Community Club (CC). The event will see the presence of Minister for Social and Family Development & Second Minister for Health, Mr Masagos Zulkifli, alongside Mr Desmond Choo, Mayor of North East District, and other Tampines GRC advisers.
A Community-Centric Transformation
In addition to Tampines Changkat CC’s reopening, Tampines North CC will hold a soft opening, while Tampines East, West, and Central CCs will welcome residents with open house events. Expected to attract around 3,000 attendees, these activities highlight Tampines GRC’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and empowered community where residents can connect, collaborate, and contribute.

Programmes That Make a Difference
A host of meaningful initiatives will be available to support residents eager to give back. For instance, the YEAH! after-school programme at Tampines West CC pairs student-mentors from Temasek Polytechnic and Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) with at-risk upper primary students to help them develop life skills, civic-mindedness, and academic success. Meanwhile, the Joy Box Programme at Tampines Changkat CC brings residents and community partners together to assemble personalised care packages for those in need during festive seasons.
Other initiatives include emergency preparedness training, educational tours, and mental well-being discussions—providing ample opportunities for learning and engagement.
Upgraded Facilities and New Experiences
The revitalized Tampines Changkat CC boasts a modern indoor basketball court, a multipurpose co-working space, and an upgraded drop-off porch designed to host charity drives and flea markets. A new “Do Good” Corner will encourage residents to take part in meaningful, community-driven initiatives, including the expanded Community Fridges programme, which has grown from one location in 2022 to three today. Additionally, the Sunrise Smiles initiative, offering $2 breakfast sets at local coffeeshops, now runs on weekends, ensuring greater access to affordable meals.
A major highlight of the revamp is the “Fantasy & Sci-Fi Library”, a themed pop-up library on the third floor of Tampines Changkat CC. As National Library Board’s first dedicated collection for fantasy and science fiction fans, it features over 5,000 books in English and Mother Tongue languages, along with a digital collection accessible via the NLB Mobile app. Open daily from 10 AM to 10 PM (except public holidays), this immersive space invites visitors to explore imaginative worlds and futuristic storytelling.
With these enhancements, Tampines’ community clubs are set to become more than just gathering places—they are evolving into dynamic hubs where residents can engage, learn, and contribute towards building a stronger, more connected community.
