The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) is set to light up the city with its highly anticipated New Year Countdown Fireworks Display, titled “The Symphony of Happiness,” on 31 December 2024. Promising to be the largest New Year celebration in Hong Kong, this 12-minute spectacle will welcome 2025 in grand style, captivating both locals and visitors alike.
A Panoramic Display Across Victoria Harbour
Stretching across 1,300 meters, the fireworks display will illuminate Victoria Harbour from Central to North Point on Hong Kong Island and from West Kowloon to the East Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade on the Kowloon Peninsula. Five barges and 16 pontoons will launch fireworks from varying heights and angles, while rooftop pyrotechnics from three iconic Hong Kong Island landmarks will create a breathtaking, synchronized performance.
For the best views, spectators can gather at eight vantage points along both sides of Victoria Harbour for a front-row seat to this sensory feast of light, sound, and rhythm.
Nature-Inspired Fireworks for a Prosperous New Year
Designed by Mr. Liu Lin, the mastermind behind the fireworks at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, “The Symphony of Happiness” will depict the beauty of nature with vibrant displays of flourishing trees, cascading waterfalls, and iridescent clouds. These dazzling visuals will convey heartfelt wishes for love, happiness, and a flourishing life in the year ahead.
Shooting Stars and a Giant Countdown Clock
Adding to the excitement, “Shooting Stars” pyrotechnics will be launched from three landmark buildings on Hong Kong Island every 15 minutes from 11 PM, symbolizing love, health, happiness, and wealth. Meanwhile, a giant countdown clock projected onto the wall of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) will unite the crowd in an exhilarating countdown to midnight.
Broadcasting the Magic Globally
The fireworks extravaganza will be broadcast live on Hong Kong’s free TV channels, the HKTB official website, and its social media platforms, allowing audiences across the city to join in the celebrations. For international audiences, the HKTB will broadcast the event globally via satellite, sharing the festive spirit and showcasing the vibrant charm of Hong Kong to the world.
