In the spirit of unity and generosity, the National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre (NVPC) has launched The Great Singapore Give (GSG)—a four-month nationwide campaign running from November 18, 2024, to February 28, 2025. This initiative celebrates the season of giving as Singapore gears up for its 60th year of independence (SG60) with the theme ‘Building Our Singapore Together’.
Everyone Can Give
GSG seeks to inspire individuals, groups, and organizations to contribute their time, talent, treasure, ties, or testimony through the Giving.sg platform. With the tagline ‘Everyone Can Give’, the campaign encourages Singaporeans to give in everyday ways and nurture a culture of compassion.
SG Cares Giving Week: December 1–7, 2024
The centerpiece of GSG is SG Cares Giving Week, a collaborative effort involving over 200 partners, including corporations, charities, and community groups. This weeklong event creates diverse opportunities for all Singaporeans to give back.
Highlight initiatives include:
- ‘Give the Gift of Hope’ Campaign by Endowus: Encouraging customers to support 20 charities through trailer fee donations and awareness campaigns.
- International Migrants Day Activities (December 18):
- December 9–12: Pack goodie bags for migrant workers.
- December 15: Distribute food and goodie bags and befriend migrant communities during a celebration at Jurong Lake Gardens.
Public registrations for these activities are available on Giving.sg.
- ‘Have A Seat’ Fundraising Drive by Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO):
Donate $8,000, $15,000, or $25,000 to “adopt” a seat in the orchestra, complete with a personalized plaque for five years. Proceeds support SSO children’s programs and the SSO Endowment Fund.
New Recurring Donation Feature
To encourage sustained giving, Giving.sg will introduce a recurring donation feature from November 18, allowing givers to pledge monthly support for causes of their choice.
Season Sponsors and Support
The campaign is backed by sponsors including CapitaLand, Lendlease, ParkRoyal, UOB Bank, and more. These sponsors amplify the campaign’s reach by offering spaces and facilities at pro-bono rates, fostering a greater sense of community.
