Nestled in the vibrant Little India district, Citadines Rochor Singapore offers a perfect blend of culture and comfort for both business and leisure travelers. With a range of apartment types from studios to one-bedroom units, and dual-key options for larger groups, Citadines Rochor is ideal for any traveller. The property is part of Tekka Place, an integrated development that features a variety of retail, dining, fitness, and cultural options, including popular eateries like Starbucks and Ya Kun Toast on the ground floor.
During our recent stay at Citadines Rochor, Asher and I got to experience an exclusive For the Love of Kopi Coffee at a local Nanyany roastery, Kim Guan Guan for International Coffee Month. This is part of the Ascotts Star Rewards (ASR) programme. If you have not done so already, you can sign up for a complimentary ASR membership and enjoy exclusive benefits all year round.
The exclusive tour to Kim Guan Guan (KGG) is available only to Ascotts guests, offering a deep dive into Singapore’s rich coffee culture, allowing guests to witness coffee roasting firsthand and learn about local coffee traditions.
First established in 1988, KGG has its beginning supplying Singapore traditional coffee powder to F&B outlets such as coffee shops. It has since grown into an integrated company that imports, roasts, packs and supplies grounded coffee powder and. tea dust at their own roastery in Singapore.
During the tour, we had the unique opportunity to meet with KGG’s founder, Jason Soon and taste coffee prepared by the maestro himself. If you find his face familiar, the packaging on their retail Kim’s Duet Coffee and Tea Bags boxes features Jason’s portrait, pulling a cup of kopi with the traditional metal tin can.
Jason is very passionate about promoting Singapore’s coffee culture and exporting the concept overseas, beyond Singapore shores. Locally, his vision is to get locals to enjoy and appreciate our own kopi as much as the coffee at foreign cafes. I found the tour to be enlightening and an interesting experience as I was not aware that there is a coffee roastery in Singapore, not to mention, a rich coffee culture. For coffee aficionados, this is an experience not to be missed.
As part of the For the Love of Kopi programming to celebrate International Coffee Month, all hotel guests will also receive a complimentary Kopi-O Kosong (Cold brew coffee) upon arrival and a complimentary limited edition For the Love of Coffee Welcome Kit which comes with a jute bag, coasters and a welcome card cum coffee guide.
For those who cannot join the roastery tour, Citadines offers a mini-coffee exhibit at participating properties. This exhibit showcases the history of traditional kopi, the art of kopi roasting, and includes interactive sensory experiences with Robusta and Arabica beans. Complimentary coffee workshops, such as DIY Coffee Scrub and traditional coffee appreciation sessions, are also available every Saturday at selected locations.
Booking for these special experiences starts now until 30 September, for stays between 1-31 October 2024. Guests can enjoy an additional 5% off with the “Rediscover Singapore” offer. Terms and conditions apply.
