Get ready to immerse yourself in Singapore’s vibrant arts scene with Sketch Up 2024, the city’s first-ever outdoor mass sketching event, rain or shine! Organized by Arts House Limited, the place manager of the Civic District, this exciting event will take place on 26 October 2024 at the picturesque Empress Lawn, located at the iconic Victoria Theatre & Victoria Concert Hall.
Sketch Up 2024 is set to be one of Singapore’s biggest gatherings of artists and art enthusiasts, with over 300 participants (and counting!) expected to join in this celebration of creativity and community. Whether you’re an experienced artist or a casual sketcher, this event offers a unique opportunity to capture the historical and architectural beauty of one of Singapore’s most beloved landmarks.
Supported by programme partner Art Apart, Sketch Up 2024 welcomes participants of all ages and skill levels. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own sketching materials to create their masterpieces, while children can join in the fun with colouring sheets and pencils provided on-site. As a bonus, all registered participants will receive a goodie bag worth $20 (while stocks last) on the day of the event.
Adding to the inspiration, the event will feature respected urban landscape painter Chankerk Teh and members of Urban Sketchers Singapore, a passionate community dedicated to on-location sketching. Their presence promises to elevate the atmosphere, offering tips, guidance, and plenty of creative energy to help you bring your vision to life.
After the event, the diverse sketch interpretations of the Victoria Theatre & Victoria Concert Hall created by participants will be showcased in a digital gallery on the Civic District website. Members of the public can vote for their favorite artwork, and the artist with the most votes will win a drawing tablet, making this an event you won’t want to miss!
Sketch Up 2024 is part of the broader Arts in the Civic District initiative, which aims to cultivate the Civic District as a thriving arts and culture destination while celebrating Singapore’s rich cultural heritage and dynamic arts scene.
