Malaysia Airlines has proudly launched its inaugural daily flight from Kuala Lumpur to the Maldives, marking a significant milestone as the airline’s 13th destination in South Asia. Flight MH485, operated by the Boeing 737-800, took off from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) at 10:10 am, carrying a full load of 174 passengers. The four-hour and 15-minute direct flight was celebrated with a water salute upon its arrival at Velana International Airport (MLE) at 11:25 am local time. The return flight from MLE departs at 12:30 pm local time.
The reintroduction of this route underscores Malaysia Airlines’ commitment to enhancing its presence in key markets, reinforcing its position as a major gateway to Asia and beyond. This is the first time Malaysia Airlines has operated direct flights to the Maldives since 2017.
In addition to the Maldives, Malaysia Airlines is expanding its network with three new destinations this year. Flights to Chiang Mai, Thailand (CNX) will commence on August 15, and daily services to Danang, Vietnam (DAD) will begin on September 24, 2024.
To celebrate the new Maldives route, Malaysia Airlines is offering special promotional fares under the theme “The Time for the Maldives” from now until August 31, 2024. All-in return fares start from USD299 for Economy Class, with travel available until March 30, 2025.
Passengers can also enjoy a 10% discount on ancillary bundles, including value bundles, premium bundles, and the MH Traveller’s Trio bundle, which provides a standard seat, 10kg extra baggage, and access to the Malaysia Airlines Golden Lounge at KLIA.
