LOUIS XIII Cognac has collaborated with crochet artist Kelly Limerick to unveil a breathtaking artwork titled “100”, symbolizing the essence of time and craftsmanship. Limerick, a renowned visual artist from Singapore known for her innovative approach to crochet, was selected by the luxury cognac house to create an installation reflecting the ethos of LOUIS XIII and their latest innovation, THE DROP.
THE DROP represents a new era of luxury, embodying spontaneity and reinvention. Similarly, Limerick’s approach to art parallels this ethos, making her the perfect collaborator for this project. To draw inspiration for her masterpiece, Limerick embarked on a journey to the historic LOUIS XIII Domaine du Grollet Estate in Cognac, France, immersing herself in the rich heritage of the cognac-making process.
During her visit, Limerick explored the vineyards and cellars, gaining insight into the centuries-old tradition of LOUIS XIII Cognac. This experience served as the foundation for “100”, a sculpture crafted with meticulous detail and representing the passage of time through 100 unravelings and reworkings. Much like the labor-intensive production of LOUIS XIII Cognac, Limerick’s creative process demanded dedication and perseverance.
The final sculpture, resembling a vessel with a double-walled bowl, cradles soil collected from the vineyards of Cognac, symbolizing the origin and essence of the cognac-making process. Crafted without joins or internal structures, “100” stands as a testament to both Limerick’s creativity and LOUIS XIII’s timeless heritage.
In conjunction with the unveiling of “100”, LOUIS XIII also introduces THE DROP, a 1cl bottle offering a spontaneous experience of their renowned cognac. Available at the Tatler Bar, THE DROP retails at S$288 for a single bottle and S$1,440 for a pack of five, with an optional accessory of a lanyard and leather bottle case priced at $168.
“100” encapsulates the essence of LOUIS XIII Cognac and the dedication to craftsmanship shared by both Limerick and the esteemed cognac house.
