“The Little Shop of Horrors” to Bring a Ghoulishly Good Time to Singapore This April

Prepare for a thrilling and spooktacular night out as the cult classic musical, “The Little Shop of Horrors,” takes center stage in Singapore this April. With music by Alan Menken and a book by Howard Ashman, the masterminds behind Disney classics like The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin, this iconic musical promises an unforgettable blend of humour, horror, and toe-tapping tunes.

A Musical Legacy Continues

For over 30 years, “Little Shop of Horrors” has been captivating audiences worldwide with its diabolically delicious mix of horror, comedy, and rock music. Now, Sing’theatre proudly brings this smash-hit musical to Singapore, ensuring an evening of entertainment that sinks its teeth into the hearts of theatre enthusiasts.

A Darkly Comedic Tale Unfolds

Based on the cult classic film, the musical follows Seymour, a down-and-out floral assistant who stumbles upon a peculiar plant with an insatiable appetite for blood. The plant, named “Audrey II” after Seymour’s crush, strikes a deal with him – fame and fortune in exchange for a rather unconventional diet of human blood. As the plant’s appetite grows, so does the chaos, and Seymour finds himself entangled in a web of out-of-this-world origins and global domination schemes.

Star-Studded Cast and Creative Team

Directed by the fabulous TJ Taylor and musically orchestrated by Elaine Chan, the stellar cast includes Andrew Marko as Seymour, Vanessa Kee as Audrey, along with Dwayne Lau, Benjamin Koh, Tony Tong, Andrea Joy, Marissa Vojodi, and Nurulhuda Hassan. Get ready for a larger-than-life musical experience that will leave audiences hungry for more.

Toe-Tapping Tunes and Fiery Performances

Accompanied by a dynamic 5-piece band, the musical promises to be a feast for the senses. Groove to hits like “Somewhere That’s Green,” “Feed Me,” and “Suddenly Seymour” as the cast delivers a performance that blends rock, R&B, and comedy in a perfect symphony.

“The Little Shop of Horrors” will be gracing the SOTA Drama Theatre from 12 to 28 April 2024. Tickets go on sale at SISTIC from 26 January 2024.
