Beloved hawker stall turned culinary gem, One Prawn & Co, recently announced the expansion of its menu to cater to customer demands. One of the notable additions is the availability of their signature Claypot Hae-mee during dinner hours, a move welcomed by regulars who have longed to savour this delightful dish in the evening. Additionally, the restaurant is introducing its top favourite seasonal dishes, the Claypot Hokkien Mee and Seafood Paofan, as permanent fixtures on their menu.
One Prawn & Co’s journey has been nothing but remarkable.
Originating as a humble hawker stall at Golden Mile Food Centre, the restaurant has made a name for itself, earning the prestigious Bib Gourmand recognition for two consecutive years. Chef Gwyneth Ang, the culinary maestro behind the operation, has since extended her repertoire, mastering a range of dishes beyond her signature prawn noodles.
The expanded menu will feature the highly acclaimed Claypot Hokkien Mee, which received lots of praise during its 2023 appearance at the Singapore Food Festival. The Seafood Paofan, previously exclusive to the Seafood Grill Course Dinner, is now a permanent fixture.
In accordance with their value-for-money pricing, these dishes start from just $10 and are available throughout the day, from 11 am to 9 pm, from Tuesdays to Sundays. An extremely good deal we must say.
“We are thrilled to bring our customers’ appeal to life by offering our exceptional dishes throughout the day so families can always enjoy a hearty meal with us. The introduction of Claypot Hokkien Mee and Seafood Paofan is a testament to our commitment to crafting experiences based on our customers’ evolving preferences.” Shared Chef Gwyneth Ang, the head chef of One Prawn & Co.
Chef Gwyneth boasts over a decade of professional experience in well-established restaurants, including Burnt Ends, Tong Le Private Dining, and Forlino. Her passion for Penang Prawn Noodles, inspired by her family’s Penang roots, drives her culinary expertise.
The Seafood Paofan is a beloved dish at One Prawn & Co, known for its exquisite taste. It features Chef Gwyneth’s famous GAO-GAO prawn broth, a rich and flavourful broth made from freshly peeled prawn heads and pork bones.
The broth is meticulously prepared in 100-liter batches and simmered for 20 hours to achieve its distinctive taste. This broth is used to poach Japanese rice in a claypot, creating a mouthwatering combination of flavours, crowned with Japanese crispy rice and egg-floss.
The Scallop Paofan is priced at just $10 and contains 8 pieces of scallop per serving, while the Lobster Paofan, ideal for sharing, is priced at a very reasonable fixed price of $40 and includes a whole lobster.
We tried the Lobster Paofan and enjoyed the flavourful broth and generous serving tremendously. We highly recommend trying this dish.
One Prawn & Co has also delivered on elevating the classic local hawker dish, Hokkien Mee, by cooking it in a claypot.
The carefully selected ingredients are stir-fried to perfection before being combined with the signature GAO-GAO prawn broth in the claypot. This elevated hawker dish captures the essence of each element, creating a rich and complex flavour profile.
Love it and we will be back again for more.
