While Le Le prepares for his new adventure, his pals, Kai Kai and Jia Jia, will remain in Singapore at River Wonders under the dedicated care of Mandai Wildlife Group. They will continue to work closely with their Chinese counterparts to ensure the well-being of both pandas and focus on planning for their future breeding cycles.

Le Le has been showing signs of increasing independence lately, such as eating, resting, and playing on his own, separate from his mom, Jia Jia, who has also exhibited slight avoidance behaviors. In the wild, these behavioral changes in mother pandas eventually lead to the rejection of their cubs. It’s all part of the natural life stage progression of Giant Pandas, who are solitary by nature.

To prepare Le Le and Jia Jia for their imminent separation, the dedicated Animal Care team has been conditioning Le Le since February 2023 to enter a new private den away from his mom’s den. They’ve also been carrying out feedings in different dens since August. Soon, timesharing of their exhibit will begin, allowing the public to see Le Le from 10 am to 2 pm and Jia Jia from 2 pm to 6 pm.

Leading up to Le Le’s departure at the end of the year, Mandai Wildlife Group and Chinese experts will work behind the scenes to ensure that Le Le is in optimal condition for his journey to China. This includes vaccinations, health assessments, and conditioning.
