The legendary Britpop icons, PULP, will take the spotlight on Saturday night, ensuring an unforgettable performance. Witness the influential alternative rockers Omnipotent Youth Society, hailing from Hebei and considered pioneers in Chinese rock. They will be performing back-to-back with seminal Chinese punk band The Fly, celebrating their 30th anniversary in style. Taiwan’s indie rock sensation, No Party For Cao Dong, promises a show that reflects the sentiments of a generation. J-pop enthusiasts will be thrilled to catch Wednesday Campanella’s energetic live performance with new lead singer Utaha. Loved by critics and fans alike, the ferocious live show of IDLES, the British post-punkers, is sure to leave you awestruck. Joining them are fellow British post-punk sensations Squid, along with acclaimed U.K. alternative-indie band PREP, Yorkshire rockers Yard Act, and Canadian singer-songwriter Andy Shauf.
If you’re searching for something new or aiming to satisfy your musical curiosity, Clockenflap 2023 has you covered. Experience the mastery of post-rock with China’s Wang Wen and U.S. post-rock veterans Caspian. Beijing-based post-punk duo Gong Gong Gong will captivate with their distinctive sound, as will Japanese punk band Otoboke Beaver. Japanese rock enthusiasts won’t want to miss envy, who have influenced post-hardcore, screamo, and post-rock scenes for over 30 years.
Prepare to dance the night away with Clockenflap’s eclectic lineup of DJs and electronic acts. Legendary DJ/producer Darren Emerson, formerly of Underworld, makes his highly anticipated Clockenflap debut. Australian electro-house duo Peking Duk returns to the festival after a hiatus since 2018. The beats keep coming with UK bass champions Deekline & Ed Solo, Berlin-based DJ/producer Cinthie, and Hong Kong’s very own classical and jazz violinist turned DJ/producer, Xiaolin.
Certain acts are born to shine on the festival stage, creating magical moments that bring the crowd together. Clockenflap welcomes the tearaway troubadours Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls, the multi-award-winning Korean traditional music group ADG7, and British-Taiwanese musician/producer Kamaal Williams, who blurs the boundaries between jazz, hip-hop, R&B, and EDM.
Clockenflap proudly showcases the depth and diversity of the local indie scene. Witness the debut live performance of cerebral local hip-hop collective Yack Studio, and be enchanted by the dreamy songs and catchy hooks of Science Noodles, capturing the essence of old-school lo-fi. Other local talents include producer DJ duo JVSY and the dynamic composer/singer-songwriter/music producer Subyub Lee.
