[Review] Art Werkx Transforms Christmas Dining into a Creative Escape on River Valley Road

Christmas dining in Singapore often falls into a predictable loop of turkeys, log cakes, and crowded buffets, but a unique venue on River Valley Road is offering an alternative that feeds both the stomach and the mind. Art Werkx, a cafe and studio hybrid, has launched its festive line-up for the season, positioning itself as an escape for those looking to break away from the standard holiday rush.

The backstory of Art Werkx is far removed from the typical F&B narrative.

The space was founded by Ravi Sinha, a former super tanker captain who managed high-risk operations. During the pandemic, he opened an unexpected new chapter. What began as a small creative studio for his team, meant to boost morale and foster bonding, revealed the transformative power of hands-on creativity. That experience planted the seed for something far greater. Guided by the belief that working with our hands brings both joy and connection, Ravi took a bold leap into unfamiliar territory. With no background in F&B or retail, he founded inmagicnation by Art Werkx, a multi-activity creative café. It became his toughest yet most rewarding challenge, demanding adaptability, perseverance, and vision.

We recently visited the venue to experience their holiday offering firsthand.

Four of us attended for a dinner session, and it proved to be an excellent opportunity for team bonding that went deeper than usual dinner conversation.

Aside from the quality food, the highlight was the inclusion of a workshop led by an instructor.

We took part in a punch needling craft session, and between the four of us, we collaborated to complete one piece. It was a refreshing change to pair a festive meal with a hands-on activity, making for a memorable evening that felt distinct from other media invites.

Punch Needling

For those looking to visit between now and 25 December, there are two distinct ways to experience the menu.

For groups, the Christmas Feast Set is designed for sharing among three to four people. Priced at a value of S8, the set features a substantial spread including Roasted Chicken with herb and garlic, Smoky Paprika Pork Ribs, and sides like Festive Truffle Mashed Potato and Grilled Root Vegetables. It is accompanied by sauces such as Cranberry Glaze and Noel Red Wine Sauce.

Christmas Feast Set

Solo diners or those looking for a personal creative break can opt for the Christmas Combo at S.50. This individual set includes a Signature Croissant Melt with turkey ham and truffle, a Holiday Chocolate Crème drink, and a festive punch needle craft session that includes a frame and unlimited yarn.

The festive sets are available for dine-in and takeaway until Christmas Day, and guests are advised to book their tables in advance to secure a slot for the craft activities.
