Tucked along the cafe heaven that is Joo Chiat Road, LUNA’s chic new outlet features a seemingly elegant industrial aesthetic, creating an atmosphere that is perfect for chatting over exquisite desserts.
‘New Frontiers’ is a series of desserts that is exclusive to LUNA’s joo chiat outlet, featuring elevated classics. A must try is the Rhubarb Strawbery ($9.00)! It’s the type of dessert that really makes you go “There’s always room for dessert!”.
Within the strawberry mousse is a piquant rhubarb strawberry compote. Rhubarb and strawberry are known to be a great pairing but the “cherry on this cake” is the almond frangipane. It adds a subtle floral and nutty fragrance which ties the dessert altogether, and the touch of desiccated coconut highlights that fragrance.
Another favourite is Tofu ($8.50). Its sleek minimal design resembles tofu. Apart from the layer of vanilla sponge, the toasted buckwheat and hazelnut praline adds a lovely hint of nuttiness, the best part is, of course, the silken tofu. The creaminess is unique compared to using milk, it’s much lighter and it brings together two great desserts – silken tofu and cake!
An classic flavour pairing, chocolate and bananas, the Caramel Banana Chocolate ($9.00) brings glory to the pairing. The sweetness from the bananas and a generous amount of caramel perfectly balances out the bittersweet 46% milk chocolate cremeux. To top it all off, the earthy hints from the chopped walnut make it that much more addictive!
Another chocolate pairing, Cassis Chocolate ($9.00) features a tantalising cassis (blackcurrent) cremeux sandwiched between layers of chocolate victoria sponge. The top layer is vanilla mascarpone mousse which mellows out the tartness of the cassis, along with the white chocolate feuilletine.
Not looking for cake? Try the Strawberry Vanilla Pana Cotta ($9.50). Layers of rich vanilla panna cotta and strawberry cremeux make this dessert a satisfying treat! The crunch of the granola and sliced strawberries top it all off.
This Chinese New Year, LUNA has the perfect set for celebrating this CNY. The Sweet Fortune CNY Set ($45+), a set of 4 desserts, offers a unique take on CNY flavous like the mandarin orange and pineapple!
Starting off with a personal favourite, the Kumquat Honey Lemon is the perfect fusion of flavours. Resembling an orange, it features a tangy mandarin orange mousse, encasing layers of honey lemon curd and caramel cremeux. The highlight of this is the hazelnut crunch at the bottom. The sweet nuttiness creates the beat for the citrus and honey to form a melodious dessert.

With a velvety smooth sweet potato puree atop of a layer of vanilla coconut cream and smoked cheese cake. It’s an absurd combination that really works! The smoked cheese cake has a savoury hint that blends seamlessly with the coconut and sweet potato, making it an oddly satisfying cake.
Tea lovers will love the Grapefruit Black Tea! Its strong tea aroma comes from the creamy black tea namelaka ganache and earl grey sponge. The bittersweet grapefruit mousse complements the fragrance of the tea and the vanilla cream cheese helps to homogenize the flavours.
Lastly, the Pineapple Pink Guava is a melange of tropical fruits. It has layers of pink guava cremeux, coconut mousse and dacquoise which gives a hint of tropical sweetness. The pineapple confit with pineapple cubes ties everything together with its sharp tanginess.
