Join TikTok’s Youth for Good mental and cyber wellness education programme and become a beacon of light among youths

TikTok unveils the second edition of Youth for Good, its flagship educational programme that seeks to raise awareness of mental well-being and cyber wellness issues amongst Singaporean youths, with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY), Ministry of Education (MOE), National Youth Council (NYC), and the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA).

This year’s edition of Youth for Good will be launched in conjunction with IMDA’s Digital for Life Festival, where there will be several in-person workshops led by TikTok Youth for Good creators and non-profit partners on 21 May, 28 May and 29 May at 11:30 am SGT.

They will drive open and empathetic conversations on balancing work, play and mental well-being; how online platforms can be used to encourage help-seeking behaviour and provide help; as well as educate on alternative mental wellness boosting therapies.

From now to 5 June 2022, Singaporean youths aged between 19 and 34 years can apply via the TikTok app to join Youth for Good and become wellness educational content creators on TikTok. You will undergo a specialised training programe from 20 June to 15 August 2022.

Programme Rules

  1. The TikTok Youth for Good programme (“Programme”) is open to Singaporean and Singapore PR users only.
  2. Users must create an account with TikTok to participate.
  3. Users must commit to regularly sharing content on their TikTok account and engage with their audience.
  4. Users must be aged nineteen (19) to thirty-four (34) years old.
  5. Users must be passionate about championing issues around mental and/or cyber wellness. Having prior expertise in peer support and a willingness to share personal lived experiences is a great asset.
  6. By participating in the Programme, users agree to be bound by and comply with the general rules and T&Cs of the Programme.
  7. All final participants of the Programme shall be selected at TikTok’s sole discretion.

Programme Details

  1. The Programme will run from 20 June to 15 August 2022. During the Programme, the Participants will attend training workshops organised by TikTok, in collaboration with local non-profit organisations. These include learning how to create engaging and relevant educational content on TikTok, as well as guidance on mental and cyber wellness resources.
  2. Participants will create educational video content that revolves around the following social issues:
    1. MENTAL WELLBEING
      1. Acknowledging the importance of mental health
      1. Offering peer support in times of need
      1. Encouraging help-seeking behavior
      1. Breaking the mental health stigma
    1. CYBER WELLNESS
      1. How to deal with cyber bullies?
      1. How to deal with online predators?
      1. How to deal with online harassment?
      1. Screen time management & internet addiction
      1. Positive self-expression & self-identity
      1. Culture of comparison & impact on self-esteem
  3. There is no limit to the number of videos a Participant can create.
  4. TikTok will issue trending educational challenges to spur content creation. Participants will create at least one (1) Qualifying Video for each challenge.
  5. “Qualifying Video” refers to a TikTok video uploaded by the Participants that is at least ten (10) seconds long and satisfies these requirements:
    1. Clearly reflects each challenge’s theme;
    1. Contains a clear educational message and call to action;
    1. Contains relevant challenge hashtag(s) provided by TikTok.
  6. TikTok will support the amplification of all Qualifying Videos uploaded under each challenge. This will help drive traffic to the Participants’ videos and TikTok profiles.
  7. To help drive maximum awareness of the educational video content created by the Participants, TikTok will feature the selected Qualifying Videos on its ‘Weekly Dose of Wellness’ landing page. The landing page will be refreshed and updated at the end of each week.

Community Guidelines

Participants agree to familiarise themselves and comply with TikTok’s Community Guidelines, which define a set of norms and common code of conduct for TikTok. These guidelines provide guidance on what is and is not allowed on TikTok to ensure a safe online space for everyone.

The second iteration of the programme builds on the success of the inaugural Youth for Good initiative launched in 2021 and comes at a crucial time when mental health and cyber wellness continue to be national topics of conversation.

Over 225 unique educational short-form videos were created by the first batch of Youth for Good creators, reaching a total of 2.8 million local video views and garnering significant engagement (108k likes, comments, and shares) from the wider local community.
