Thinking of a June school holidays treat for your kids?
How about a cross-border road trip to LEGOLAND, one of the best-loved family resorts in Johor? The sprawling Lego-themed resort, the only one in Asia, features a LEGOLAND theme park, a water park, SEA LIFE Aquarium, and a hotel.
You can buy tickets separately for each attraction or get a combo package. Your visit can be a day trip, or make it a staycation at the unique lego hotel.
Traveling from Singapore to LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort, Johor
We celebrated the reopening of Singapore and Malaysia land borders by taking a weekend family getaway at LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort in Johor.
We drove there on a Friday afternoon via Tuas Checkpoint. We were worried about being caught in a jam. But to our pleasant surprise, the journey was a breeze! The experience was back to pre-Covid times, with no extra hassle at all.
We only took about 15 minutes after passing through the checkpoint to reach LEGOLAND.
LEGOLAND Theme Park
The LEGOLAND Theme Park is hosting its first-ever vehicle and racing-themed festival – Build The Thrills Festival happening from now until 26 June 2022.
Expect entertaining dance performances and stunt shows, meet & greet with LEGO racers, and many LEGO hands-on activities and workshops children would love.
Walk further into the park to explore a total of eight awesome themed areas to indulge the imagination. There are gentle rides suitable for younger kids, and for the daredevils, be sure to take on the roller coaster ride.
Visit iconic landmarks around the world at MINILAND. This “park within a park” was built by a team of more than 100 people around the world and features a mind-boggling 30 million LEGO bricks! Here is a little preview:
LEGOLAND Water Park
Enjoy a splashing fun time at the Water Park. With more than 20 rides, slides and attractions, there is something for everyone.
The adventurous can zoom down colourful slides while the languid can relax in the lazy river filled with foam lego bricks. Get creative by building your own raft to float on! Other highlights include the wave pool and the colouful water playground.
SEA LIFE
Aside from the physical fun at Theme Park and Water Park, enjoy exploring the LEGO-themed SEA LIFE aquarium in air-conditioned comfort. Its wide range of sea creatures- over 13,000 of them from 120 species, will dazzle your eyes and awe the little ones’ minds!
Have fun spotting the lego decorations in the aquarium!
There is also an interactive area where we can get up close to sea creatures, under the eye of the knowledgeable and friendly SEA LIFE guide.
LEGOLAND Hotel
To enjoy LEGOLAND’s myriad attractions at a leisurely pace, a staycation at the quirky LEGOLAND Hotel is a good idea. We enjoyed our stay there as it was comfortable and the staff provided friendly and good service. The colourful and fantasy-themed hotel is sure to make even the sternest parent smile.
We stayed in a Kingdom-themed room which fits a family of five comfortably. The room has two separate sleeping areas- a king-size bed for adults and a bunk bed with a pull-out trundle bed for up to three children. Both areas get their own TVs- no need to fight over the remote!
In case you are wondering, toothbrush, toothpaste and towels are all provided, so you don’t have to bring your own.
Check out the LEGOLAND hotel and all the different themed rooms here.
Bricks Family Restaurant
Now, after a thrilling day at the theme park, water park, and SEA LIFE, enjoy delicious food at the Bricks Family Restaurant. It has a very cheery atmosphere with fun lego installations all around. We went during Ramadan and enjoyed delicious Nusantara-themed buffets.
