Sustainable, Asian-inspired and Healthy Snacks by Re-, a subsidiary of agri-food giant, Olam

With both businesses and consumers zeroing in on sustainability, agri-food giant, Olam, has launched a subsidiary company, Re-, a purpose-driven food start-up in Singapore.

Re- is introducing a new range of snacks to Singapore that are inspired by ingredients commonly found in Asian cuisine. There are five distinct flavour profiles – honey; seaweed; honey sesame; salt & pepper; and rock salt.

All of Re-’s snacks are 100% natural and are great sources of dietary fibre and protein with no artificial flavours, stabilisers, colours, thickeners, or preservatives added to the plant-based GMO-free nuts.

They are now available at all FairPrice Finest outlets and will be available at physical retailers Cold Storage, Shell and e-commerce retailer RedMart by the second quarter of 2022. You can also purchase the products directly from Re- via its website.

Re- is looking to redefine and disrupt the global snacking landscape, starting with Singapore. Guided by its purpose, Re- wants to empower consumers to snack consciously and be their partner in creating positive impacts for the planet and everyone in it.

We tried the various flavours and found them to be extremely tasty and addictive. In particular, the salt & pepper flavoured mixed nuts almost taste like snacking on the Black Pepper Crab, a Singaporean hawker favourite.

These nut snacks are a good substitute for unhealthy fried snacks like chips and fries and are equally as delicious.

Good for the environment, good for people

Re-’s nuts are sourced from farms that use climate-friendly practices, which includes almonds grown in Australian orchards that run on 75% renewable energy, and cashews that are grown by farmers in Vietnam trained in organic farming techniques, allowing them to improve soil health which results in higher quality cashews.

“We believe that doing good can be as simple as eating good. Consumers should be able to enjoy healthy yet tasty snacks that are affordable,” said Venaig Solinhac, Chief Marketing Officer at Re-.

“At same time, they should also be able to do so with the assurance that the nuts that they are consuming were harvested and produced in a socially and environmentally sustainable fashion.”
