[Review] Five-course Middle Eastern Feast for Valentine’s Day at Shabestan Singapore

If your other half loves Middle-Eastern cuisine, indulge them this Valentine’s Day at Shabestan Singapore with their limited time Love & Prosperity Menu, available from 1 to 14 Feb 2022.

We have dined at Shabestan before and was impressed with their hearty and healthy food, attentive service staff and lovely ambience by the quayside. For a different Valentine’s dinner, this is definitely worth a try!

The five-course set meal is priced at S$90++ per person, including a complimentary glass of wine or prosecco and Amuse-Bouche. Located along Mohamed Sultan Rd, along Robertson Quay, you can dine al fresco by the quayside or settle indoor if you prefer airconditioning.

Complementary rose wine

The featured dishes include:

Amuse-Bouche – pita bread with spinach, pomegranate to whet your appetite
Pomengranate Salad – Persian-style Salad with Pomengranates
Beetroot Humus – Lebanese-style Hummus Dip with toasted Walnut & Fresh Beetroot
Dawood Basha (Sharing Stew for 2) – Egyptian-style charcoal grilled Lamb Meatballs braised in Tomato Sauce
Vegetarian version of the Dawood Basha, with eggplants instead of meatballs and a more tangy strew
Valentine Platter – Persian Edition (Sharing Kebab Platter for 2) – Lamb Kubideh, Chicken Masti, Tekeh Masti, Prawn and Fish Kebab served with Javaher Rice and Salad
Shabestan’s housemade signature chili sauce
Rose Cheesecake – housemade 3-layered Cheesecake with edible Rose

As you can see from the images, the serving is really generous and will leave your tummies filled and satisfied at the end of the meal. The highlight is clearly their kebabs and stew, slow-cooked to perfection. If you are a meat-lover like yours truly, these are some of the best kebabs I enjoyed lately, with a light char on the outside for texture, but still tender and moist when you sink your teeth in.

Do ask for their housemade signature chili when enjoying your meal. This is something the regulars at Shabestan keep coming back for. Made with green chili, mint and an assortment of spices, there sauce is a little brownish in colour, with no artificial colouring, freshly made each day. It is fairly mild, but has a zesty, minty kick to it.

With air travel still pretty restrictive, dining at Shabestan provides a novel culinary escape into the Middle East while we remain stuck in tropical Singapore.

Reservations are now open and can be made online via Shabestan Singapore’s official website.
