The original Mellben Seafood restaurant at Ang Mo Kio is a popular crab and seafood specialty restaurant in Singapore, with a well-established name and reputation for quality seafood among foodies in Singapore. Since the founding of the original Meilben Seafood, several other Mellben Seafood offshoots have sprouted across Singapore, opened by family members of the family patriarch at the original restaurant.
One such offshoot is Mellben Signature at Tanjong Pagar Plaza which is run by Gabriel, the son of the family patriarch. Gabriel spent most of his youth working at Mellben Seafood to hone his trade and now can stand on his own.
The top, best-selling dishes at Mellben Signature are similar to those at Ang Mo Kio and are mainly their crab dishes like their Creamy Butter Crab and Claypot Crab Vermicelli Soup. The latter is popular with regulars and features a lighter broth with milk, said to be healthier than the stronger versions elsewhere.
The dishes at Mellben Signature are plated and presented beautifully, a significant difference from most other Chinese seafood specialty restaurants, making it ideal for celebratory occasions where aesthetics are key.
