45-year-old man arrested for brutalizing unconscious victim in Sengkang over work

A video went viral of a brutal altercation between two men in Block 182A Rivervale Crescent on Tuesday afternoon, September 22. Witnesses at the Sengkang void deck helped the victim once the violent episode ended, and the unconscious man was admitted to Sengkang General Hospital.

Here is the full video and other images of the altercation:

Who were involved in this viral video?

According to Zaobao, the two men involved were 47 and 45 years old, with the younger man arrested for being violent with the older man.

The row between the two men allegedly started because the younger man had gotten the older person a job as a cleaner. But when the older man allegedly did not perform well at his job, the younger man had gotten into an argument with the former that devolved into a violent episode.

The two fought, and the younger man was able to beat the older man into unconsciousness. The same report said that even unconscious, the perpetrator continued to rain blows upon the victim.

The 45-year-old man, who has not been named, stomped on the older man’s face with his foot twice. While the man was down, the perpetrator also started cursing the victim in Hokkien before walking away.

What happened afterwards?

According to a report by Asia One, bystanders were witness to the whole scene and were able to understand some of the argument that preceded the violent episode.

None of them felt like they were strong enough to stop the episode, but proceeded to help the fallen man afterwards, supporting him before the medical team arrived.

The witnesses said that the man suffered injuries to his face, and was bleeding from the left ear, nose, and mouth. He also looked like he had fractures and abrasions on his face.

“My feet hurt and I need to use crutches, and I have a heart problem, so I didn’t dare to go and help, but someone helped him and helped him to the side who fell on the ground.” said one of the witnesses.

Police have said that the 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of serious intentional injury and drug-related crimes.

Golden Mile violent perpetrator Wee Boon How gets no caning due to low IQ

A similar case of a violent altercation going viral captured Singapore in October 2017 when Marcus Wee Boon How beat up a man in Golden Mile after an intense staring session at a pub that devolved into an argument about his mother.

A previous report from Alvinology said that, “As punches and kicks began to fly, the other people in the video tried to separate the two but to no avail. Eventually, the victim lost ground and Wee went on a vicious attack, which included the awful face-stomping.”

The victim was admitted to a hospital for facial reconstruction surgery.

Marcus Wee Boon How was 26 at the time of the crime, and his defense lawyers said he had only reached Secondary 2, with his IQ at 60. The judge decided to forgo the caning and gave Marcus three years of jail time instead.
