Worried about the potential rise in fares after the Uber and Grab merger in Singapore? Support another competitor to Grab, Ryde, to ensure Grab doesn’t gain a market monopoly.
Ryde Technologies (Ryde), Singapore’s homegrown mobility app, announced yesterday, the launch of RydeX, its private-hire car service. This addition to Ryde’s mobility suite illustrates the company’s goal to build a complete mobility experience for drivers and commuters.
The service will be available from 2 May 2018 on iOS and Android mobile devices. Since Ryde’s announcement two weeks ago to move into private-hire car service, more than 5,000 drivers have registered to be on RydeX.
Terence Zou, Founder and CEO of Ryde Technologies Pte Ltd says, “This is a big milestone for us and we are very excited to be able to offer Singaporeans with another alternative to travel using RydeX.”
RydeX comes with two options of ride-hailing services:
RydeX Scheduled is a private-hire car service that allows users to plan ahead of time as they get to book a private-hire car from 10 minutes to 7 days in advance. The app gives users the option to request for a specific driver, especially so when they had experience an exceptional service previously.
RydeEXEC is a premium travel option that brings users to commute above the norm and with style. This service connects users to luxurious cars with extra comfortability and only to the best drivers available. To ensure users takeaway a lasting experience, drivers are required to maintain high service ratings of at least 4.7 to be eligible for RydeEXEC.
It remains to be seen if Ryde would be any to pose any serious challenge to the behemoth Grab which is flushed with cash funding. In any case, the smart thing for consumers to do would be to alternate rides between various competing ride services so as to ensure the survival of multiple companies to keep prices competitive.
