Since its first movie in 1977, Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, STAR WARS has amassed a huge fan following from all over the world.
As a tribute to the iconic brand, fans unite annually on May the 4th – a date derived from the iconic phrase “May the Force Be With You” – to celebrate STAR WARS.
In Singapore, local event organiser Esprimo and STAR WARS fans, with the support of Singapore Tourism Board will come together as one and commemorate May the 4th at the second edition of STAR WARS DAY: MAY THE 4TH BE WITH YOU Festival at the F1 Pit Building.
Fans can look forward to meeting the founder of 501st Legion, Albin Johnson and his pink astromech droid R2-KT, band performances by fan group “Dark Empire”, costume fan appearances, movie under the stars, and much more! The celebrations will also culminate with the STAR WARS RUN Singapore 2018 on the night of 5th May.
Star Wars Festival Highlights
Kids Fashion Parade – children below 12 years old are invited to dress up as their favourite character from STAR WARS and take part in a kids’ fashion parade. Participants pre-registering on-site (near the stage) have to be accompanied by their parents/guardians. The first 40 registered participants will receive a goodie bag and attractive prizes can be won.
Fan Costumers’ Appearance and March-In – R2-KT and over 30 Star Wars fans from various fan clubs will be marching in dressed in their costumes on both days at 1pm and 7.30pm!
#StarWarsXRoyalSelangor Selfie Photo Contest – take part in the Snap, Post & Win contest by dressing up in a Star Wars Outfit, taking a selfie at the photo wall of Royal Selangor’s booth and upload it to Facebook or Instagram with the featured hashtag! The most creative entry will be awarded a Royal Selangor Millennium Falcon worth $850.
Pewtersmithing Workshop – participate ad take a home a special Star Wars Run Singapore 2018 dish while learning how to make a personalized one! Registration is available at the booth during the festival to the first 200 participants, at S$50 per person, or S$80 for two.
Other featured events include pyrotechnics displays and movie under the stars.
Star Wars Run 2018: Race Details
The night run returns on 5th May and features 3 race categories this year: the inaugural 540m Young Jedi Dash, the competitive 10km and non-competitive 5.4km to cater to participants of all ages.
Participants will be able to choose one of two routes – to join the Rebellion on the Light side, or be called to the Dark side. Both routes will feature engagement zones that will bring the STAR WARS experience to life! There will be members of the Rebel Alliance and soldiers from the Empire to flag off the Light side and the Dark side respectively.
Runners for the non-competitive 5.4km can also look forward to be part of a unique flag-off where the Light and Dark side participants will run in opposite directions, under the night sky lighted up with sensational pyrotechnics display.
Prizes include special trophies, prize money and finisher medals.
Star Wars Run 2018: Merchandise
Fans can look forward to purchasing limited edition collectibles created specially fot the event, including special edition pins and a 55-cm Electronic Lightsaber, with prices ranging between $12.90 – $29.90.
