This January, the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Singapore, with the support of the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) will officially open the doors of the brand new Ronald McDonald Family Room (RMFR) at IMH to provide a place of rest and respite for parents whose children are seeking treatment at IMH.
IMH Sunrise Wing is the only psychiatric ward (20 beds) in Singapore for children and adolescents aged 6 to 18 years. It is specially designed to suit the needs of patients who require more intensive treatment. IMH also runs two Child Guidance Clinics located at Buangkok Green Medical Park and Health Promotion Board at Outram Road.
Cosy and comforting with a home-like atmosphere, the Family Room is a place for a quiet break from the wards for parents, caregivers and siblings of patients. Tucked away in a quiet sanctuary within IMH, parents and family members are free to have a drink, grab a bite or simply steal a moment to nap, watch TV or go online with the free WIFI access provided.
