Ed Sheeran Officially Owns Spotify In 2017

Spotify reveals the most listened artists, albums, songs, and trends in Singapore during Spotify’s Year in Music 2017!

Bringing back 2017 Wrapped breaks down the total number of listening minutes. Drake has been the top artist for two consecutive years from 2015 to 2016.

Now someone else snatched his throne.

This year’s ‘Wrapped’ showcases obvious results with Ed Sheeran dominating the music scene as the most streamed artist in Singapore. His song ‘Shape of You’ is the top track and ‘÷ (Divide)’ is the most-streamed album.

Now wonder his fans are willing to get scammed of over $2,000 just to get his tickets in Singapore!

Most Streamed Male and Female Artist in Spotify

‘Shape of You’ by Ed Sheeran shows crazy numbers with over 1.4B playbacks making it the Top 2017 Track. His album ‘÷ (Divide)’ is the Top Album making him the Top Artist and Most Streamed Male Artist this 2017.

Most streamed Female artist is our all-time favourite pop-country singer Taylor Swift with her 2017 album ‘reputation.’ Her song ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ in her latest album shows over 260M playbacks.

Top 5 Artists

Jay Chou is the Top 2 Artist with his 2016 Album followed by The Chainsmokers after releasing their 2017 Album ‘Memories…Do Not Open.’

The popular alternative band Coldplay still made it to Top 3 even without releasing an album for two years. KPop boyband BTS is the fifth Artist to make it to the Top 5.

Top 5 Songs

Following ‘Shape of You’ by Ed Sheeran, ‘Something Just Like This’ by The Chainsmokers took second place with over 600M listens. ‘Despacito’ by Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee ft. Justin Bieber made it to the Top 3.

Top 4 and 5 songs are ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’ by James Arthur and ‘Attention’ by Charlie Puth.

Top 5 Albums

Outstanding albums such as ‘24K Magic’ by Bruno Mars and ‘Illuminate’ by Shawn Mandes made it to the Top 2 and 3 Most Streamed Albums this 2017.

After Ed Sheeran’s ‘‘÷ (Divide)’ Album snatched the top spot, his 2015 Album ‘x(Multiply)’ still made it as Top 4 – more proof that 2017 is really Ed Sheeran’s year in Spotify. Last but not the least of Spotify’s Top 5 Albums in 2017 is The Weeknd’s ‘Starboy’.

The numbers are close this year. Spotify sees 2018 as a new exciting year of music and is expecting greater results from Singapore Spotify listeners.
