The weirdest national costumes from the Miss Universe and Miss World pageants

Whether you like pageants or not, you cannot discount the artistry, talent and ingenuity that goes into making those national costumes. Not only do the creators have to work with non-traditional materials, they also have to make it look good, speak loudly about the culture and be all about #concept.

But some designers may have taken the idea a bit too far–or to places we find quite amusing. Check them out:

Someone need to make 33 wishes? Or is she going to do an Aladdin Broadway number in the next few seconds..

She carries all the spares, we guess.

It was all okay until someone broke out the bottle.

Someone got inspired by an orange slice? Or a hot pocket?

Michael Bay must be into pageants now.

Father Time–wait, is that MOTHER Time?

Swan Princess or Bjork’s dress 2.0?

Gotta hand it to her train handlers.

Whatever you think of this costume, she’s working that front-piece like nothing else.

Catholics were not sure if we’re going to clap or pray.

For anyone who was hungry for Nasi Lemak, Miss Malaysia’s got you, fam.

What do you think of these costumes? Know any other good ones we can include in the list? Share some with us in the comments!
