No mid-autumn affair is complete without some artisanal snow skin mooncakes from Cherry Garden.
Delight your senses with the toothsome mooncakes from the classy Cantonese restaurant at Mandarin Oriental Singapore.
From 10 August to 4 October 2017, you can enjoy an alluring collection of artisanal snow skin mooncakes. Expect to savour new flavours such as Custard paste, rose petals and chestnut as well as Passionfruit paste and pistachio.
Classic selection of traditional baked mooncakes
If you prefer the good old traditional baked mooncake, the classic range is also available at Cherry Garden.
Introducing Pandan with dried cherries and pistachio mooncakes, this signature flavour draws inspiration from Singapore’s national cake. The aromatic pandanus palm and smooth lotus paste pair well together, alongside sweet dried cherries and crunchy pistachio bits making for a luscious finish.
The Sea salt caramel with single-yolk mooncakes are also back by popular demand and now complemented with pecan nuts for that added crunch you can’t resist.
Health-conscious foodies will also be able to enjoy some delightful treats with the low-sugar Silver lotus paste mooncakes with double (S$40 for 2 and S$78 for 4) or single yolk (S$38 for 2 and S$72 for 4).
Getting our hands all powdered up
Before we tucked into all the gourmet selection of mooncakes, we had a first-hand experience dabbling in some mooncake making with Executive Chinese Chef Cheng Hon Chau from Cherry Garden.
He gave us a taste of how mooncake-making really is. While it looks pretty simple, there’s certainly an art to mooncake-making. In fact, it took us several tries to get the entire process right.
After a couple of tries, here’s the result. Not too bad, right?
Ta-dah! Now we can’t await to bite into the delicate snow skin and palatable fillings in the mooncake after the interactive showcase by the esteemed executive chef.
Custard paste, rose petals and chestnut
Fans of custard paste will relish the creamy custard with generous chunks of chestnut within this delicate goodness. You can even taste subtle notes of rose petals in this new flavour, adding a different facet to the usual taste of snow skin mooncakes.
Where else can you find such mouthwatering flavours?
Lychee Martini Chocolate Truffle
Hands down our favourite, it is also poised to be the top pick amongst chocoholics. The sweet symphony of lychee martini and chocolate truffle flavours entices our tastebuds with a chewy texture to it.
This is definitely one snow skin mooncake you won’t stop at the first bite.
Osmanthus and Walnut
Osmanthus and walnut make for a perfect pairing, especially with a zesty zing. Unlike the usual pairings as seen in traditional baked mooncakes, this combination may be a bold step but certainly in the right direction.
You’ll absolutely adore this delicate snow skin mooncake for a fine balance between its refreshing and nutty flavours.
Passionfruit Paste and Pistachio
The potpourri of flavours from passionfruit and pistachio will have mooncake lovers asking for more. This exceptional pairing redefines the taste of traditional mooncakes with a refreshing and lightly sweet taste.
Those who enjoy a variety of classic flavours can indulge in the Cherry Garden Four Treasures to savour the four baked mooncake flavours or choose the Assortment of Mini Snow Skin Mooncakes featuring eight pieces of two snow skin flavours each.
These artisanal mooncakes sure make for a marvellous mid-autumn celebration for your family and friends alike. Whether are the mooncakes for your own pleasure or as gifts, you know the go-to place to hit up for some magnificent mooncakes.
