First-ever collaboration between RWS and Choi Chul Ki

CHEF: Bibimbap vs Chilli Crab may be the first collaboration between Choi Chul Ki and RWS but it’s not the first time the former is making a foray into theatrical performances. If anything, the critically acclaimed executive director has even pioneered “eat-ertainment” and trail-blazed the scene with his cutting-edge and experimental theatrical styles.

Remember the first non-verbal top-rated musical NANTA from South Korea, or other celebrated shows like Jump and CHEF? Chul Ki is the original creator of these game-changing live show concepts and you’ll have a chance to witness his theatrical wonder this June.

Not only will the audience be able to go on-stage to interact with the amazing cast and be part of the unfolding story, you may also be actively engaged in deciding the winner between the Red Chef and the Green Chef in the final culinary battle. This certainly adds more spice and spontaneity to the live theatrics, giving the audience a novel experience each time.

 

Uniquely Singapore twist 

CHEF: Bibimbap vs Chilli Crab is a new adaptation of action-comedy musical CHEF that has taken the world by storm with its string of sold-out shows globally.

In this uniquely Singapore adaptation, two teams of chefs dish up cuisines of different countries, which will then culminate in a final showdown. The rival head chefs will eventually compete in a cook-off to unveil the pride of their respective signature dishes.

The local spin on this celebrated theatrical performance doesn’t just stop there. Award-winning RWS Executive Pastry Chef Kenny Kong, who’s also the President of the Singapore Pastry Alliance, has specially crafted a new pastry snack for the global premiere of CHEF: Bibimbap vs Chilli Crab.

The mouthwatering Chilli Crab Tart created by Chef Kong can be purchased at Resorts World Theatre’s food and beverage counter during the weekends. Guests who also purchase the weekend VIP category S$118 tickets and Category One S$98 tickets will each receive a complimentary Chilli Crab Tart and a can of Coke.

 

Jayley and Hayley Woo debut theatrical performance

Local rising twin starlets, Jayley and Hayley Woo will join the cast in CHEF: Bibimbap vs Chilli Crab as the adorable and effervescent Cutie Chef – a soprano with multiple characters, during the show run. Both of them will take turns to perform the role.

We managed to ask the vivacious and bubbly duo in the following video, how was a departure from acting like for them in their live theatrical debut in this production.

Sharing the excitement of her sister and soon-to-be co-star, Hayley Woo also stated that it was really a dream come true for them, to be able to partake in a massive theatrical production like this. She added that they had also been dreaming about wanting to train in Korea even before the KPOP wave hit Singapore. Both of them expressed how blessed and grateful they were to have been graced with such an awesome opportunity to work alongside a star-studded cast, amidst the sky-high standards in the Korean entertainment industry.
