It’s a Fire Rooster for this Chinese New Year! There is a total of 12 animals in the Chinese zodiac, also known as Sheng Xiao. Each person’s zodiac is derived from a person’s birth year according to the Chinese Lunar calendar. Based on a 12-year cycle, each year in that cycle is related to a zodiac animal. For those born in 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993 and 2005, your Chinese zodiac is a Rooster and this is your year.
In general, Roosters are active, amusing, outspoken, talkative and charming. The Chinese Lunar New Year will begin on 28 January 2017 (Saturday). On the eve of this festive season, the Chinese typically gather together with their family members for a reunion dinner. They will also clean up their houses as they believe that symbolises sweeping away the bad fortune and welcoming the New Year.
