Samsung Pay has just celebrated its first anniversary this August. Secured with digital encryption technology, Samsung Pay is a contactless mobile payment system which uses fingerprint, pin or iris for authorisation. This system is currently available on Galaxy Note7, S7 edge 4G+, S7 4G+, Note 5 4G+ and S6 edge+ 4G+.
With over 4 months of preparation, Maybank has officially launched it’s latest digital offering, the Maybank Samsung Pay mobile wallet. Being South East Asia’s fourth-largest bank by assets, this payment service is part of Maybank’s strategy to strengthen its digital presence across the region.
By having this new mobile wallet service, Maybank wants to bring convenience to their customers in Singapore as the world moves towards digital transactions using smartphones at the point of purchase. Moreover with global mobility on the rise, Maybank’s customers can use Samsung Pay facility virtually anywhere in the world where credit or debit cards are accepted.
The CEO of Maybank Singapore, Datuk Lim Hong Tat, said that together with Samsung, Singapore is the first market within ASEAN to launch Samsung Pay and this is yet another milestone in Maybank’s digital roadmap. Datuk Lim added on that Maybank wants to provide convenience and peace of mind financial services to their customers, and mobile payment is an important way to deliver this.
Future Digital Plans Of Maybank
The launch of Samsung Pay in Singapore follows the success of the Bank’s introduction of its mobile wallet in Malaysia last month. After which, numerous other digital initiatives will be roll out progressively across the region. The Bank also wants to be a digital bank of choice in the region. Therefore, the Bank is committed to leverage on the convergence between mobile technology and banking services.
In conjunction with the Samsung Pay launch, Maybank Singapore will be offering special promotions for its customers including cash rebates, lucky draws and 1‐for‐1 promotions.
