5by20 is a initiative by the Coca-Cola Company in the Philippines to empower filipino female micro-entrepreneurs. From fruit farmers to artisans to vendors, women around the world are already pillars of businesses, but just lack that extra help to grow bigger. The Coca-Cola Company is building on that foundation by implementing programs to help women entrepreneurs.
Through 5by20, they seek to address the most common barriers to success women face by giving them access to business skills training courses, financial services and connections with peers or mentors:
The goal of the initiative is the empowerment of 5 million women micro-entrepreneurs by the year 2020:
Awesome isn’t it?
Why is Coca-Cola doing this?
When a woman owns a business, no matter how small, it’s not only her and her family who benefits, but also the whole community. This ties in with Coca-Cola’s corporate vision to spread happiness around the world because when a woman owns a business, you can count on them to open happiness! 🙂
