Poulet’s 2014 Festive Menu – Delightful Cinnamon Apple Winglets and more

For restaurant chains like Poulet, the brand would have to continuously adjust their menu to stay relevant and up-to-date with mass consumers’ tastebuds. As such, Poulet made some changes to their menu in 2014 to celebrate their second anniversary. In addition, to welcome the year-end festivities, Poulet has launched three brand new dishes.

First up, the new Caramelised Apple Sauce to go with their signature roast chicken. The salty-sweet sauce is made with a bed of cinnamon brown sauce with caramalised apple inside:

Next, the Cinnamon Apple Winglets which were so good they left me wanting for more:

Accompanying this new dish is a refreshing new drink, the Blood Orange and Minty Cucumber Cooler:

For desert, there is the new French Pear & Apple Tart, served with French vanilla ice cream:

These festive menu items will be available from 3 November till 31 December at all Poulet outlets except Jurong Point.

I like the Cinnamon Apple Winglets and the Carmalised Apple Sauce. Usually when something sweet like apple is added to a savoury dish, the taste can be quite befuddling and confusing. Poulet managed to work magic here. I am quite averse to sweet food, but found both these dishes delectable. Good stuff.

While I was there, I also sampled some items from their new menu:

Smoked Duck Pissaladière (French Pizza) (from S$11.90 to S$13.90++)

One of the highlights of the new menu are the French Pizzas or Pissaladières, which are mainstays. They comes in three flavours: Mushroom, Smoked Duck, and Poulet. The Pissaladière is an open faced pastry and traditionally served without cheese. Generous portions of ingredients rest atop a crumbly, tart-like crust and this crust is the distinguishing feature from the bread-like crust on Italian pizzas. Poulet uses French onion jam and black olives on the pizzas.

Another highlight is the Halibut en Papillote. Enveloped in parchment paper is a slab of halibut fillet, accompanied by a medley of garden vegetables, soaked in white wine sauce. I like the presentation of the dish which is pretty to look at and fun to unwrap.
