i Scream @ Bedok North

i Scream @ Bedok North

i Scream is a new boutique ice cream cafe located at Block 89 in Bedok North, a short walking distance from the popular foodie haunt, Bedok North Market & Food Centre at Block 85.

For location, I think this is perfect place for a dessert cafe. Usually after a hearty meal at the food centre, people may want to just hang out and chill – i Scream will cater well for such crowds.

There are a number of other similar cafes in the same location, but in terms of decor, i Scream stands out with its pop-inspired lightbulb signboard and a chic decorative scooter on the outside:

The revolving ice cream display case adds a touch of spunk and makes ordering interesting:

On the menu, i Scream serves a relatively wide range of frozen confections, waffles and beverages:

Signature include their Korean Bingsu, liken to our local ice kachang, but with more premium ingredients, topped on a layer of shaved ice:

Man-go Mad Bingsu (S$6.90) - Bingsu with mango ice cream, red bean and marshmallow

The presentations are beautiful. Check out these other signature items I tried:

Alcohol lovers will be delighted with the variety of liquer-infused concoctions available. For S$1, you can also choose to infuse your choice of liquor into any scoop of ice cream you order:

To offer better value to customers, i Scream employs a pay-as-you-weigh concept at 3.5 cent per gram of ice cream (with a minimum order of 100g).

The packaging for their condiments and toppings are done quite nicely:

Overall, I am pretty impressed by the presentation, concept and cafe ambient. Macarons go very well with ice cream – I love their Soogle concept. Prices are reasonable too. The only drawback I felt was that there was no strong, stand-out ice cream flavour among those I sampled. However, given that the cafe is new and new flavours and specials will be added regularly, signature flavours and crowd favourites should evolve.
