Singapore, 25 April 2012 – In conjunction with the World Foursquare Day on 16 April, omy.sg launched the first Singapore Check-In Bonanza (http://project.omy.sg/check-in-bonanza/) with Sentosa from 16 April to 14 May.
During this period, visitors to Sentosa can “check-in” at participating F&B outlets and attraction sites on Sentosa Island using their smart phone Facebook or Foursquare apps. They can then show the image on their phone to the service staff for exclusive discounts and promotions.
“Sentosa celebrates its 40th birthday this year and we have special treats for everyone, including the tech-savvy visitor! With a growing number of social media-savvy visitors, Sentosa will offer exclusive deals to those who check-in at selected establishments on the island. So come play on the island with your smart phone, and share your fabulous and fun-filled moments on Sentosa’s Facebook, Twitter and YouTube channels,” said Anna Ng, Deputy Director, Marketing, Sentosa.
Organised by omy.sg (www.omy.sg), Singapore Press Holdings’ leading bilingual news and entertainment portal, the Check-In Bonanza is an expansion from the Singapore Foursquare Day which omy.sg organised in 2011. The new event now allows for check-in via both location-based social media services provided by Facebook and Foursquare instead of just the latter.
“With shift in social media trends, a social media driven check-in event is a natural event for omy.sg to go into, given our strong engagement with the local online community,” said Lee Kuan Fung, Associate Editor, omy.sg.
The Check-In Bonanza is part of a series of events branded under Social Media Fiesta (http://project.omy.sg/social-media-fiesta), an omy.sg social media initiative. The Singapore Social Media Fiesta is an umbrella of events focused on social media to reach out to the Singapore online community. The Social Media Fiesta brand was introduced in 2011 and consists of four flagship events from April to July in 2012 – 5th Singapore Blog Awards, First Check-In Bonanza, First Twitter Frenzy and 2nd Singapore Social Media Day.
