Via wikipedia: The Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) is an independent Baptist church known for its extreme stance against homosexuality and its protest activities, which include picketing funerals and desecrating the American flag. The church is widely described as a hate group. It is headed by Fred Phelps and consists mostly of members of his large family; in 2007, it had 71 members.
Recently, they are in the news for announcing plans last Wednesday to protest Steve’s Job’s funeral, sending the message out, ironically, via Twitter for iPhone.
“Westboro will picket his (Steve Jobs) funeral. He had a huge platform; gave God no glory & taught sin,” Margie Phelps, lawyer and daughter of the small church’s founder, tweeted Wednesday night on her iPhone.
Westboro represents extreme Christian religiosity at its worst and ugliest, much like a cult thriving on hate.
