Annalakshmi Janatha Restaurant is an interesting Indian vegeterian concept restaurant where customers are invited to “eat as you wish, pay as you feel”.
The restaurant is operated by the Temple of Fine Arts under a Master Shivdas. The staff in the restaurant are devotees from the temple who volunteered their services.
You can find out more about Annalakshmi Janatha and the Temple of Fine Arts at their respective websites.
Putting religion and philosophy aside, the restaurant serves great tasting authentic Indian vegetarian fare, much like the food I savoured during my trip to India.
I visited the restaurant a few months back together with a group of bloggers. We went there on a Saturday afternoon. The restaurant is pretty packed during the weekend, hence do arrive early or make reservation.
The food is served buffet style. Drinks like lassi can be ordered from the wait staff. Check out the menu.
I am unable to name most of the dishes I sampled, but I enjoyed most of them, sans the sweet yogurt dishes which I never managed to get used to.
I would think Annalakshmi Janatha Restaurant is a great place to get introduced to authentic Indian food. Moreover, they operate by a “pay as you feel” concept, meaning it would not cause a giant dent in your wallet either for the experience. 🙂
